Official 'What you got for Valentine's Day' thread...

I told Craig all I wanted was a box of Godiva chocolates since I wanted to win those 52 pairs of Manolo Blahniks

BUT he said the places he tried were all sold out becuase of that contest! So instead he got me a huge box of Russell Stovers chocolates, a $20 gift card to Starbucks, and a really sweet Wife valentines day card (which was the only other thing I wanted )

I cooked dinner, brought home a nice bottle of wine, made homemade heartshaped sugar cookies that I decorated with pink & red frosting and sprinkles, and got him a Steve Vai DVD of a London concert. It was a nice night, but bittersweet because we both really missed Golem

I love my DH, but I am a little disappointed. I made him phyllo dough wrapped gouda with apples and almonds, field greens with a honey mustard vinagerette, penne with a wild mushroom sauce and chocolate covered strawberries all served with Pink champange and our favorite red wine. I got him 2 'For my Husband' v-day cards and cleaned the apartment (which he was suppose to do while I was at work yesterday). I got flowers from the store in the subway. Not even a card for our first v-day as husband and wife. I feel bad for complaining, but he never puts any thought into these things and it is starting to upset me. All I wanted was a card.

I was disappointed too as it was our first VD together as husband and wife. I bought him a few gifts (he's SO hard to buy for) and stopped at Baskin Robbins to get his favorite ice cream. He made me dinner which was really sweet (he doesn't cook) but other than that all I got was a box of Godiva chocolates that he picked up on the way home from work! I give up chocolate for Lent EVERY year . Obviously he didn't remember that.
It was a very boring and unromantic VD
In past years he's gotten me jewelry and flowers; this year I get a box of chocolates. And the only lovin' I got was from the dog! At least HE went to bed with me

and he cooked me the most amazing filet mignon dinner

My DH got a me a certificate so I can go to my favorite place and get a facial.
I got my DH the Ray DVD.
We went out to dinner to the Parkside in Queens.

That stinks Heidi!! I hope you at least told him you were disappointed and that all you wanted was a simple card to have been happy. Sometimes men just don't get it ... I was very clear (over & over again! ) that a card was (and always has been with me) key.

At least, he surprised you with all the great show tickets recently ... gotta give him some credit ...

I got roses and beautiful diamond hoop earrings

I got cards from DH & the dogs
and chocolate covered caramels.

I too was a little disappointed in DH and I feel awful because he had good intentions. I guess I expected more because it was our first valentines and husband and wife and we recently had a baby AND our anniversary is next week.

I bought him all the things he needed.
For valentines I got him a big box of Godiva and a new wallet.
For our anniversary I bought him a nice pair of Diesel shoe-like sneakers and a really nice Diesel watch.

I told him not to get me anything fancy for v-day since I planned on just giving him the chocolates and the wallet. So he came home and brought me roses. That's it and I was fine with that until I gave him his gifts. I gave him the choc first and he said that's it! The nerve of him! That box of choc's cost more than the roses he bought and he said that's it??? Anyhow I gave him the wallet and he seemed to want more so I told him that I had more gifts for him but they were his anniv present so I was planning to give them to him next week but if he wanted he could have them now. So he says give them to me now and I'll give you yours too. Alright, he gets his gifts and then goes to the other room to get mine. A little while later he comes out with just a card. OK? I open the card and there is a gift certificate to a spa. Wonderful! He was listening to me when I said I wanted to go get pampered!
Here's the problem.....
He was only half-listening!
A while back I had said that one day I wanted to go get pampered at a nice luxurious spa on long island.

So he gets me a certificate to a spa on steinway street in astoria!!!!
Not to mention only $100 bucks? That will get me a mani & pedi and maybe a wash if I'm lucky.
I felt like such a horrible person for being disappointed that I cried like a baby! But I had to tell him to get a refund because it would go to waste.
here's why.....
1) I hate Astoria (I lived there when I was younger and I'm sooo over it! I only go there when I go to the in-laws) and he knows that I don't like going over there. Not to mention that how could anyone relax on such a busy street. Can't even find parking over there!
2) Even at another spa $100 isn't going to get me far.
It ***** because I feel like such a B---- becuase he had the right idea and the right intentions but he totally got the place wrong. But it was so thoughtful it's killing me.

Georgous flowers Jess! How's things with the new addition to the family?

BTW...did you ever get our package? We sent you something for the holidays but I didn't hear anything about it...hope you got it, and were just busy with the holidays! LEt me know!

We went to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods this weekend.
We said 'no gifts'. I got him a card.
He walks in with a card, a Dove chocolate rose, a picture frame, a 'Be Mine' Cookie and took me out to dinner. I told him, I felt bad. He said 'dont, I wanted to do this for you.'.
Hes the best!

Fh got me 2 dozen pink roses
1 dozen red roses
then he got 2 bags of caramel kisses from our daughters to give me
he went to kbtoys and bought them both toys and cards (which impresses me more than my roses)

I also got a card that says pick any ring you want with no price limit but I think that was my bday presentsince its on vday

Wow! You outdid yourself with that meal! I'm so sorry about the no card from your hubby I don't think you're complaining at all--just stating how you felt about the mismatched effort.

DH is having a 52ct Swiss Blue Topaz set into a ring for me by our jeweler. It should be ready some time next week.

This year DH got me tickets to go see Mamma Mia and 2 DVD's (The Notebook & Ghost) and we also went out to dinner at a very nice place in Huntington (Panama Hatties) He was also off from work & got up in the morning & made me breakfast before I had to go to work (Pancake with a heart made with red icing on it)

Holy mackeral it's beautiful! How big is 52 ct? I mean, it will take up most of your lower finger, won't it?

I got a card and he made filet mignon. I was very sad I did not get roses or chocolates or anything. I honestly thought he was hiding the roses and went into the hall looking. I thought we were playing hide and seek. But there was nothing to find. So I didn't give him his gifts either 'cause I am spiteful like that. But today a guy working in Trader Joe's gave me some roses leftover from yesterday.

I got pink and white tulips (my favorite flower), chocolates, a book, and dinner at Mirabelle.

OMG I forgot the best thing -

I also got 2 lipsticks and 2 lip pencils - DH knows I'm lipstick crazy so he went to Ulta all by himself and said 'Do you have any Club Monoco lipstick?' (Good Boy!! ) and of course they didn't so they helped him pick out other stuff. I am so impressed by his courage!
