Re: Am I the only person who didn't like the Watermill?
I was a guest at a wedding. yes, there was some confusion. but, we figured it was because the bride booked the wedding 6 weeks ahead of time and really didn't do much planning.
The food was good. The room was nice.
but, when it was time for me to find a hall, I booked Leonard's...still working on the review...

Well FH & I went there when we first got engaged & I fell in love with the place. We decided against it though after seeing some confusion at a wedding that we were at..
It is rare that you hear anything bad about the place...Just make sure you are stern in what you want...This is not only here but with any hall!

I know what you mean about sonfusion but The Coral house had multiple functions as well. But they started t different times so my guests didnt really see the other party. I think it had to do with our Maitre'D so dont cross them off just yet!

I personally dont see the point or get why you had to bring this up? I am not a watermill bride but If I were I would probably be a little offended. Some things are better off not posted. -JMHO

Re: Am I the only person who didn't like the Watermill?
I'm a Watermill bride...not offended at all...surprised at the 3 functions though...for our night we have the entire upstiars , the two smaller rooms are open for our cocktail hr and then the larger room for the reception , and since that starts at 9:00, there wont be another party.....and the downstairs has its own bar, bathroom, exit etc...so I'm not sure why there would be confusion with weddings? Maybe a day wedding would create that more then in the evening?
I picked it because of the rooms, the amount we got for the money and the attention we recv'd and will receive....
I've actually NEVER heard a bad review on them, which helps me with my decision, but even if there was, everyone feels different then everyone else about something..
ETA: you may get some attacks here because there seems to be no reason for the thread other then to have people discuss what they dont like about a place?

Re: Am I the only person who didn't like the Watermill?
I just went to a wedding there in December. There was 2 weddings going on. I wasn't confused and never saw the other bride. I did however see one of the other weddings drunk Bridesmaid throw up....not confused though...just laughing!!!
The Watermill is beautiful and they did a great job the night I was there.

I happen to love the watermill and leonards . So please dont take offense to this. But I find it ironic that you think 3 weddings at the watermill is too much when Leonards can hold as many 4-5 weddings at a time!! Again, its just my opinion, so I hope I didnt hurt anyone feelings. And I tend to agree with Soontobemrsz......we should all keep in mind that other brides are getting married at the watermill.

Why would people be offended? I was asking if we visited Watermill at the wrong time. I, too, thought it was beautfiul but was a little concerned about it being so crowded. I am not bashing or asking others to bash the place. Just trying to find out whether or not we got the wrong impression of the hall. That's all.
Sheesh. I think people are a little bit sensitive.
People are VERY sensitive...that said, I wasnt offended at all, but some will be....and I dont know if you went at the wrong time? I never encountered that and I guess it depends on the time...if both weddings are large ( over 125) there can only be 2 weddings tops as the ballrooms (2) only hold that many people...there is a possibility of 3 weddings, 2 being small during days, at night with a larger one there can only be 2 and I would be upset if I saw other people from downstairs upstairs as there would be no reason...except for outside on the grounds due to the seperate bridal suite, bar, bathrooms eetc that each floor provides....

Re: Am I the only person who didn't like the Watermill?
I think that with this kind of board...not one of us can take anything personally when it comes to any aspect of our wedding. If I listened to even one of the reviews for my reception hall....or any of the ones I visited I would be getting married in a box! There is about 90% bad reviews for my hall but I just love it and am going to hope for the best and work out and rough edges other brides have. I appreciate all the negative reviews...then I have an outline of exactly what to make sure DOESN'T happen at my wedding.

Let's put it this way:
I agree everyone can post their opinions...I like to hear all aspect, negative or positive about my hall choice, BUT I just think the way this was posted: 'Am I the only person who didn't like the Watermill'
is a terrible way to start off the post.

This was so well said!! I go through the same with my hall, the negative comments always outweight the positives, and I have to brush it off most days to maintain my sanity. But still I do appreciate the feedback I read, both good and bad. I only learn from it
I dare say that NONE of our halls are 'perfect' .. and the reason there are a zillion of them on Long Island is because everyone's taste is different. It would be reaaaaaaaally boring if all of us were getting married at the same place!
I do think all of us must understand that we have to choose our words a little more carefully on here than in 'real life' ... YES people are sensitive and you don't want to come across as if you are 'picking' on a hall (I don't think the original poster was trying to start trouble, mind you, but I do understand how some Watermill brides could have gotten upset at the subject line)
Statements can get misinterpreted merely by reading them on a forum board.. We all need to keep that in mind
