This is one of the creepiest things that has ever happened to me. I get an email from Lavalife.com saying 'thanks for signing up.' I think it's just spam and delete it, then I realize that it said my username was JENWRITES. I'm a writer, and Jen is my name, so I realize, wait, how would they know that? So I sign in to my 'account' and find out I HAVE A PROFILE... READ THIS!:

OK, I just called the FBI and they said it is harassment and I should call back MONDAY to talk to the computer crimes division. I don't know how I'm going to wait that long!
Lisa, I went on the site and used the 'lost my password' page, and they e-mailed it to me. (This person registered me with my own e-mail address.)
The thing is, I run a very big website. I have 57,000 subscribers to my newsletter, and that's where this person probably found out about my engagement and that I was thinking about a June or July date. And there are 2 of the 3 pictures on my website. The other came from an obscure little website-- I don't know how they found it.
FI says I am not allowed to share any more of my life details online anymore! I hate that... I am a very open person, but there are some sick people out there, so...
I will try to give an update on Monday.

Is anyone else really freaked out?
This whole thing has me a little freaked out. I've thought about this before but never really paid attention until now. We all post information about our lives on this site. We post important and not so important stuff....and when examined it its totality one could get a pretty good profile on anyone of our lives.
After reading violetfairy's post I did a search on all my postings...there were photos, information on my family, job, etc. Sadly, I went back and deleted practically all the information. I posted it to help but realize now that the information could be used by someone else in a bad way.
I bet if some of you did a search and read through some of your posts too you'd see enough for someone to create a profile on your life.
I think violet did something wonderful for all of us by sharing her story. This is horrible that it is happening to her...but it could happen to any one of us very easily.
And I am freaked out and very very sad.

I am sorry to say unless you are in an industry or a police man or some sort of secret agent, what will someone knowing about your wedding do to you??? I have been on the site going on 3 yrs and I will not let anything or anyone stop me from posting. Celebrities have their private info posted about them everyday. I guess we all have our comfort level and you have to do what you have to do to make yourself comfortable. SOrry to hear it happened to her, but I doubt it highly that there are people on a wedding website looking for us.
