I am admit..offically..on the place where everyone who is everyone goes for wedding info...
I AM USING CLEAR LABELS ON MY INVITATIONS....
why? Because I am running low on the envelopes, patience, and time. So as you throw the envelope into the trash you may 'suck your teeth' at me!
Seriously.. is this very tabu or is it ok?
My printer worked and has since crashed I have only gotten about 38 of the envelopes printed. I am thinking I will use the labels.
HONEST OPINIONS ONLY!

You open an envelope and then throw it out. I say it's not a big deal at all. Make your life easier and use the labels.

This is what my Fh is saying. He keeps telling me 'stop stressing...this is what labels are made for'
I'm thinking I wish I didn't have to do this!

I was planning on using clear labels...
I was going to take a stab a calligraphy but I don't have that much patience...
Clear labels it is....As long as the invite is cool looking no one will remember what the front of the envelope looked like

Thank you very much for your support ladies..now I need to run to Staples tomorrow! If I had time I would've done the calligraphy!

I used clear labels. They weren't shiny and actually blended right into the envelope like that invisible Scotch tape. I had a tough enough time trying to make a mail merge work with the labels, trying to do each envelope would have been a nightmare! You are so lucky that you can do the calligraphy, that's one thing I was never that good at (although I tried!).

At least SOMEONE understands that!
on a serious note however... My only suggestion is be really careful with the labels. I think they are perfectly fine to use if used right... we got a wedding invitation over the summer and the labels were a disaster... they were crooked and bunched and looked awful. we didn't think it was a wedding invitation at all we thought it was junk mail.
so just make sure that you smooth them out nicely when you put them on, and wait for the ink to dry before you touch them at all.
if they are used properly i think they are marvelous.

i dont know many people who dont use them! lol everyone i know has done it, i am doing it for mine. I cant afford to have someone do them for me and people are just gonna throw them away. My brother friend paid alot of $$ for a calligrapher (sp?) and do you know, she asked people what they thought and 99% of them didnt even realize it!
so clear labels it is for me! lol go for it it is so much easier!

I'm going to be the lone dissenter, it seems. I don't think you should use labels at all, clear or not. The envelopes should be handwritten. They don't need to be done by a calligrapher. Handwritten is what counts. And get FH to help.

You're not alone on this one BoxOfRocks ...
As much as you might want to *believe* that the labels magically disappear, and that no one notices, trust me ... its just not true.
Handwritten is the proper method ... computerized calligraphy printed directly on the envelope is a fair middle ground between that and the labels, and many people use this as an alternative.
I have never received a wedding invitation with a label used for the addressing.
It is generally not very expensive to order 25 more envelopes if you don't have enough to complete the job.

Thats weird i guess everyones circle of family and friends is different cause i think i have only ever gotten 1 wedding invite that did not use labels
Then again i am cheap lol if its cheap, easy and still looks ok then its fine with me lol no way are FH and I gonna hand address all those envelopes lol!
My E-party i fed them thru the printer and printed on some of them...i couldnt stand the extra work making sure it was perfect lol labels were so much easier....so about 20 people got printed everyone else got labels lol My family doesnt look at things like that anyway...noone will notice 1 way or another lol

Don't stress over clear labels. There are so many things to think about
