Oh ok..so I made one no-no this whole wedding...

Original post by TheMrandMrsof2008

I am admit..offically..on the place where everyone who is everyone goes for wedding info...

I AM USING CLEAR LABELS ON MY INVITATIONS....

why? Because I am running low on the envelopes, patience, and time. So as you throw the envelope into the trash you may 'suck your teeth' at me!

Seriously.. is this very tabu or is it ok?

My printer worked and has since crashed I have only gotten about 38 of the envelopes printed. I am thinking I will use the labels.

HONEST OPINIONS ONLY!

I think it is ok! But to be honest, I like hand written better and will be using that for my envelopes.

I am extremely anal when it comes to things like that but only for things that i do.i use clear labels for everything but i wont for the wedding invites...but to be honest if i get a wedding invite in the mail with a clear label it wouldnt matter ...so go for it!

i dont think its a big deal to use them BUT if you know someone who has nice handwritting maybe they can do you a favor and handwrite them for you? either way its just an envelope so i wouldnt worry that much.

I had major printer problems also so I printed them at my moms office, but if i didnt have that option, i would have went with labels.

I know its a 'faux paux'm but seriously, would you stick up your nose it if you received an invitation with one.. NOOO!!

I think it's fine to use clear labels. I am also using them. Calligraphy looks very pretty but so does the labels if you use a nice font. One of my friends spent a lot of money to get their invitations addressed with hand written calligraphy and the day they went out in the mail it rained so the calligraphy was all smudged and some of the invites got returned because they couldn't read the envelopes. They only way she was able to tell which ones they were was that she numbered each response card. She said if she could do it over again she would have just used the labels.

I'm not going to bother with the calligraphy cause I will drive myself nuts. And I am pretty sure my family/friends will be more concerned with the invitation rather than the envelope.

its an envelope.... something that totally goes right in the garbage... do what is the easiest and most time/cost efficent for you!!!! etiquette really kills me sometimes...

Re: Oh ok..so I made one no-no this whole wedding...

this question has nothing to do with etiquette or anything like that...i haven't gotten to invites yet but i was always curious why ppl print addresses on labels and not on the envelopes directly? wouldn't it also be cheaper, not by alot lol but you dont have to buy anything extra such as the labels. Or do you just like the way the addresses look better on labels rather than directly on the envelope?

I wouldn't use the labels. Like a few other people said before me, I've never gotten a wedding invite with a label. We're most likely using computerized calligraphy for our invitations (to lower the cost), but my mother and grandmother would have a heart attack if I used labels.

I got calligraphy done on mine. Personally I agree with the couple of posters above that said they should be handwritten. I just think I'm old school that way, doesn't mean you have to pay money for it, just find someone around you that has nice, legible handwriting. I personally don't prefer labels, but that's me, like I said I'm kind of old-school about those things.

But, if you're going to use the computer which I think is an ok alternative, why not just print it directly on the envelope?

Clear labels are definitley OK. I used them for my STD's and it looked very nice. Just be careful to apply them so they don't come out crooked.

I would love to handwrite them. As a teacher though I want these things in the mail and gone. As for printing on the envelope, my printer is having issues. You are right though, the ettiqute books were writen before people used computers as much....LABELS HERE I COME!!

THANK YOU! LADIES!
