OK Controversy- DO you 100% fully trust your Signigificant other, or do you think anything is possible

Original post by wacky

Friend and I were speaking over some drinks about life

We were speaking about a girl we know that validates herself by her man. She is smug, like she is the only girl married in the world. I think its BS. We both said that you can never be too sure.

What do you think? I believe that no matter how much you love, you just never know what the outcome may be, and I just cant put all my faith in my hubby.

Maybe I am being a little pessimistic or emotionally guarded, but I have a problem saying 100%.

I mean I have a great relationship/friendship/marriage with my husband, but I am of the belief that nothing is guaranteed and anything can happen.

nope, not pessimistic at all.............just a bit more guarded than most.........

Can I just ask the girls who do not trust 100% a question???

What is the point of not trusting your husband 100%????
As I said, I am not stupid enough to think that 'NEVER EVER WOULD MY HUSBAND CHEAT, LIE or blah blah blah'

But knowing that anything can happen is not going to make me trust him any less NOW....

What's the point??? Is it to guard yourself? b/c if it is, it's going to hurt either way if it does happen....

I just don't understand....

I trust my husband 100%- I am not naive, for me, thats what I expect from him since we are married now. I think if he was ever unfaithful, it would not hurt any more if I did not see it coming-that kind of thing hurts no matter what. If he betrayed that trust, I dont feel it would be my fault or feel bad for myself for trusting him.

Of course, all that would be after I broke my foot off in his as$

I do think its funny how, since we have been married, I have let go of my control freak self. Sometimes its so tempting to let him 'take care of things' and manage money, etc. But I make sure that I know where we are financially, and keep money for myself as well. My mom always did that too, she raised me to always keep some money in a savings acct etc. for myself.

Hmmm I trust him 110% but it dosen't mean that I would turn a blind eye or not question certain behaviour.

I have heard and seen to many people blindly trusting .. and getting burnt for it.

I handel our finances.

Sage, it is hard to put into words, but just to let you know I have this approach with alot of other facets in my life. I believe in leaving room for error. I wish that I did not come off as this mistrusting person because I am not.

so hard to explain

I'm one of those who trusts 99%. My dad cheated on my mom after 26 years of marriage. So I've seen it happen where I thought it never could. Nothing in life is 100%, therefore I can't say I trust DH 100%. It doesn't work out mathematically!!

I think with trust it is a very thin line between trust and being blind.

i think i agree... i trust him 100%....
but i dont feel im blind, if something doesnt sound correct then ill question something and get the explanation...

the way we look at it is if we ever did want to do something bad, it would be worse to hide it, better to just say it(like its better to tell your spouse you lost attraction and want to date other people, instead of cheating and not telling the spouse until your caught).. better to be honest upright...

I think everyone is capable of something, so that's why I can never fully trust 100%.

I totally understand where this would cause trust issues, however (and this is just me) I would not want to punish my husband for my fathers mistakes.

(and just for reference, I know what that feels like, as I too experienced that same situation with my parents)

Trusting my husband does not make me blind and especially not stupid...lol....I know a load of BS when I see it/hear it -
But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it....

Jeez its kind of sad to see people are so not trusting these days. Can't say I blame you all Thats why I can count my friends on one hand. I am a very trusting person but far from stupid.

This is how I am as well. I have very few real friends.

I'm sorry I just want to clear up that I in no way think trusting = blindness.

It is hard to articulate via written word sometimes.
