OK Controversy- DO you 100% fully trust your Signigificant other, or do you think anything is possible

Original post by wacky

Friend and I were speaking over some drinks about life

We were speaking about a girl we know that validates herself by her man. She is smug, like she is the only girl married in the world. I think its BS. We both said that you can never be too sure.

What do you think? I believe that no matter how much you love, you just never know what the outcome may be, and I just cant put all my faith in my hubby.

Jeez its kind of sad to see people are so not trusting these days. Can't say I blame you all Thats why I can count my friends on one hand. I am a very trusting person but far from stupid.

Just beacause you trust your hubby doesnt mean you are stupid Oh god I hope thats not the impression I made

This is how I am as well. I have very few real friends.

me 2. you gotta trust the person you're gonna marry.. but it's entirely human nature to be suspicious. They are the person that are going to be with you for ever so it's important for a level of trust be there that is not equaled by anyone else. I am by nature an idealist.

I know when the you know what hits the fan.. she'll be there for me.

still.. maybe anything's possible. People may not have a TOTAL trust of the fh/fw.. but there has to an overwhelming basic trust I think.

good question.

Sage I trust Roger, but to say I would put my neck out there on the line to say he would never, my neck is going to stay right here, that does not mean at the time we are in this marriage I am walking around worried out of my mind. I will just not end up in a mad house if it happens, b/c I always knew in my mind anything was possible

I trust my husband 100%- I am not naive, for me, thats what I expect from him since we are married now. I think if he was ever unfaithful, it would not hurt any more if I did not see it coming-that kind of thing hurts no matter what. If he betrayed that trust, I dont feel it would be my fault or feel bad for myself for trusting him.

Of course, all that would be after I broke my foot off in his as$

i agree

I wouldn't say 'never' either....Like I said, anything can happen...people are not flawless...
But until I have reason or suspicion that he is not worthy of 100% of my trust...he will get it.

And if he proves me wrong...then it's his loss...I won't feel guilty for trusting the man I marry....

I can see both sides of everyone's feelings....
I guess the bottom line is in the way you look at things....
Everyone is different and I respect all of your opinions...

This was a good topic Wacky!

This is exactly how I feel.

Again I will say nothing in this world is guaranteed, and nothing and no one is perfect.

I truly trust my FI 100%. It took me a long time to get there, so I tell him he better keep me there !!! I figure, if he were to cheat or whatever, I will work through it then(after I mame him), but I am not going to bother myself with worrying about it now !!!

Ok I will be truly honest. Honesty and trust are the biggest thing in our relationship. Years ago (we have been together for 9 years) Something happened Trust was lost but regained. I trust him so much and the same with him trusting me. But you never now. Things happen and if you are a strong couple (and its not to horrible) you try your hardest to work it out.

All of you made really valid points! Trust, honesty, repect and communication are so important in a relationship. Hubby and I have a very good foundation, but life is of such where you never know! I always leave room for the unknown! However, that's not something I think about unless I have reason.

This is a great topic.
I agree with alot of what Sage said
I trust loved ones (in this case my hubby) 100% until he gives me reason not to.

YES, life is life, ANYTHING can happen, but why shouldnt we have that 100% trust for eachother.

My grandmother, as OLD SCHOOL as it gets, used to say (Im translating from Italian, it 'rings' better in Italian, but here goes):
'A man is a hunter, and he'll stop where he finds his prey'
and this is coming from one of the most old fashioned ladies on earth. YEs, she trusted her hubby, and they had a wonderful marriage, but she KNEW a man is a man is a man..

Laying out all your trust doesnt mean youre being naive. Although we KNOW that men are visual animals and they cant resist temptation as well as we women can , I think its still ok to say you trust the man you married 100%.

and if things happen, we cross those bridges when we get to them...

Yes, I fully, 100% trust my DH. It took me a long time to reach this point...after being burned in the past...it's a very nice place to be.

It's the rest of the world that I don't always trust!

Posted by shamma

A guy/a married man, my husband should not put himself in a position where he has to resist these kinds of things

Agree, Shamma! My aunt used to say-if you hang out in the barber shop, sooner or later you are going to get a haircut

I think both parties also have to constantly work at making marriage the best it can be. It is so easy to get complacent after you get married, and figure that the marriage will keep itself going.

I have a good friend whose DH has had a sex drive issue, he only wants to have sex twice a month at most. She is so frustrated, and IMO prime for an affair b/c her needs (both emotionally and physically) are not being met. Its so interesting to see this from a womans side-if this was one of my male friends, I dont know if I could be as understanding as I am of her. I think b.c I know this is not just physical, she feels rejected and does not want to be the one going after it all the time, since she thinks this is the traditional 'male' role. I wonder if she has an affair, is it partly the DHs issue as well for not making more of an effort to satisfy his wife's needs?
