Ok...so we were going to do Las Vegas for our honeymoon, but FH suddenly dropped the bomb that he would rather go elsewhere because he went to Vegas twice already; once with an ex g/f and once with his ex-roomate. Now i knew about these vacations but he seemed to be on board with going. But now he is saying it seems expensive and stalling. When we talked a bit more (last 2 frickin hours!) on the phone, he admitted in that boy way men have, that he was worried about being reminded of 'the Devil' as he refers to his ex. So, our LV vacation is nixed.
-sighs- He says he would rather go to Florida-Disney, etc, We cant afford Caribbean or Mexico and time constraints work against us because we have a wedding to go to 3 weeks after ours that is in new Hampshire of all places.
So new thread here...So SOOOO sorry to all those who were helpful with the Las Vegas questions w had! You're all wonderful and we appreciate it! Need your advice again...
We'd like to stay REALLY close to Disney World, or inside of it. We do not want to have to travel like crazy to get around. I tried looking for disney packages and deals online but it is sooo confusing. Very commercialized and gave me a headache. We may talk to a travel agent this weekend, but I thought I'd ask here first since you guys seem to have great ideas.
We can't do super expensive like THE GRAND FLORIDIAN but we don't want to stay at a super crappy plac either. We will probably spend most of the time in the parks but we;d like to have a nice relaxing hotel with a good pool to come back to if we decide to lounge around.
About 10 years ago, my family stayed at the Disney Carribean Resort and we loved it, but reviews I read recently read say its crap now so I am worried. I know NOTHING about Fl now so I could really use the help. Suggestions on hotels, ways to get better deals, etc.
THANKS!!!!!

i think its easiest to go to a TA and get info and prices. then when you come up with your best options you can look online to make sure you are getting the best price. i like booking through a TA because i can go to them with all my q's and get fast answers. i think the cheapest all inclusive you will find are cruises, especially if you book one from NY and save on airfare.
the one from brooklyn NY is the crown princess and it starts at $1600 each and thats for the standard room, otherwise its $2100 each and then more for the other rooms
$2100 each person or for one room??? i've cruised out of NY twice (NCL Dawn to FL and Bahams, and Royal Carribean Nordic Empress to Bermuda) and both cost lest than $2000 for DH and I for an inside cabin. the only things not included in the price are drinks, excursions, certain restaurants, souveniours, stuff on the islands.
Each person...yeah this was for the crown princess and it just started last summer leaving out of NY, it leaves out of red hook brooklyn which also just started letting cruises leave out of there, i think the crown princess is the only one that leaves out of there. And its 4 excursions, its Puerto Rico, st. thomas, bermuda and turks and caicos.

forgot to add, that the drinks are not included either, they give you the crown princess card you use on the ship which charges your cc...they were inexpensive the drinks though, when i would get bacardi and coke or Fh got scotch, they were like $3.25 each...the food is included when you do their everyday dining or anytime dining...but if you went to a restaurant in there that wasn't one of their 4 dining rooms then you had to pay.

Go to all the travel websites and look for places in Mexico that are affordable such as:
Puerto Vallarta Punta Canta Cozumel Acupulco
Good Luck!

Re: Ok guys...SO SORRY ABOUT THIS!
I am having honeymoon planning problems too, so I feel your pain... If you are looking for a good price and good vacation I would definitely look into the Dominican Republic. Try Puerta Plata or Punta Cana. Punta Cana is a little more 'hot' and the employees seem to speak english a little more. My FH uses the websites like travelocity, orbits etc to find our trips. We usually go off season and we went to Puerta Plata for about 800 each (for one week) including airfare. and we've been to Secrets Punta Cana for 1200 (for a week and airfare). Like I said though it was off season...but it is still the DR and I think pricing is still awesome.
if you are still considering disney I know the 'all star' hotels that are on property are usually like 100 a night. Also I think cruises tend to be more expensive...not sure though.
Good luck!

Re: Ok guys...SO SORRY ABOUT THIS!
Thanks guys. We are trying to do a smaller honeymoon now-4 days or so. We thought a 4 day cruise but nothing to the carribean is that length. So thats likely out. My parents are giving us the money towards the honeymoon because they insit we need to have one or 'we will regret it.'
-sighs-tried to say just hand us the money and we can use it in savings, because we could really use it towards our house next year, but my mom, though I love her, is neurotic and gets 'hurt feelings' (her word) when thinsg dont go her way and i just dont have the energy to argue lately.
The problem with doing a honeymoon during other parts of the year in off season is I will be teaching. I am sure many teachers out there know my pain. Our longest breaks are Christmas and Summer and those are two highest seasons. I will be teaching 4th grade so I CANNOT go during the school year due to testing and Springbreak is springbreak for EVERY kid out there and its stressful. So summer is really all we have.
We're going to talk to a TA and see what happens. If not, we are just going to drive to the shroe for a long weekend and leave it at that.
Thanks again folks.

Re: Ok guys...SO SORRY ABOUT THIS!
[Better to go carribean bound or north like alaska in August? Im afraid of hurricaines! They start late July through like October.
When I was in Aruba in Feb one of the natives said that they don't get hit by hurricanes...I forgot why he said, but not many cruises come because of the water.
Now I have been to Alaska, amazing! I went there with the military in August. The weather was sweatshirt weather. It had I think 4 hours of darkness when I went to.
Hope that helps

My bestfriends are going to Punta Cana in July for their honeymoon. They are staying at the Gran Bahia Principe and got a great deal. It's all inclusive too. I hear Puerto Plata is a little less expensive than Punta Cana.
What about going to the Caesar's Resorts in the Poconos? FH and I went once for our anniversary and it was really nice. You save on airfare because you can drive there.

You CAN do Disney affordably. Check out this website Also, the flight will be cheaper than the flights to Nevada. If you stay on property, you don't have to rent a car or take taxis etc. There are affordable food options at all the parks. Just one thing to consider: Since it's the summer, lines tend to be LONNNGGGG b/c all the kiddies are out of school and visiting Mickey.

We are going to Walt Disney World on our HM and we are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter. Beautiful and Inexpesinve. You can book it on the Disney web site or there is a phone number for Walt Disney World Resort. They were very helpful. We now just need to purchase our tickets for the parks and airline tickets. I hope that we helped you out.

This may sound cheesy..but if you are on a budget...how about Niagara Falls (the Canadian side)? They have spectacular rooms, with incredible views.....VERY romantic. Also...you can fly for like 100 bucks round trip...and buy everything in canadian dollars ..(exchange rate is better)... They have a lot of things to do there... museums, night life, casinos. I highly recommend this trip.

Re: Ok guys...SO SORRY ABOUT THIS!
Okay, I havent read the entire post because I'm at work but I really liked the Wilderness Lodge. FH and I had a king bed. I think if you have a king bed you only have a stand shower (no tub - but we didnt care) Also, it is pretty expensive. Food alone....we spent probably about $35 per day on lunch and at least that much on dinner. Its not cheap. If you want to go somewhere in the Caribbean, you can go All Inclusive for a week in a standard king room to Jamaica for under $4k easily! We went to Ocho Rios in March 2004 and stayed at the Sunset Jamaica grande for a week all inclusive for about 1100pp. It was soooo great with so much to do! I think they recently redid the entire hotel (they didnt have to at all!) and changed the name. Also, you can try Cancun. FH and I went to Cancun in May and spent about 2800 for a week all inclusive at Dreams cancun resort and spa. We also spent about $3500 a few summers ago and spent an AI week at the Divi in Aruba. Some cheaper caribbean ideas are Dominican Republic and Bahamas. I know its really cheap to fly to Bermuda but I dont think its All inclusive so you can spend a lot of money on food and drink. I only go all inclusive when I go to the caribbean. HTH!
Edit: My parents have been to the Dominican Republic and Cancun about 5 times in the past 2 years and have always stayed for a week all inclusive and have NEVER spent more then $2000. They have raved everytime they came home!
