BTW, my comment about buying a house that looked like a trailer wasn't meant to offend, I was just making a point. I don't think ranch houses look like trailers. lol.

Well since we are all venting. My house does not photograph well because it is brown and therefore would look like crap if I showed you a picture of it. Some people don't even like my neighborhood.

But its my home, my husband is there and so is my heart. When I owned a co-op and heard the LI prices I too wanted to move out of state and I was against us buying a house and kept saying I loved my coop. But now that its my house I love having a driveway, I love having a pet, I love putting up lights on the outside! It may be a dump to some, and it may be overpriced, but its my dump and I love it.

It may be a dump to some, and it may be overpriced, but its my dump and I love it.

Its not a dump and so many neighborhoods get bad reputations....... The schools are not as bad as people say Irene, so dont worry-- I went to levittown schools and I am an attorney now and so are many people who went to my H.S.

my moms house is in seaford but the schools are levittown and she was afraid at first b/c she 'heard' things and then she changed her mind....

No one was trying to 'hurt' anyone on this post. It was in good fun, posted by frustrated people looking for homes, which all of the homeowners on this site once were. There are thousands of different types of homes on Long Island, and most of them are very old and rundown. Some of the exteriors may be ugly, but some of them when you walk in are amazing.

I called the house a trailer because when my husband and I walked up to it, that was the ONLY thing that came to mind. I did not ever once thing 'oh anyone who lives in this house must be a fool'. No, a fool would be to pay 300K for it. The inside was old, it was terrible.

Now, what offended me and set me off on this thread was the insinuation that we had no rights to post about the prices and value of these homes. I think it was very presumptious and just as insulting as you may have thought calling something a trailer was. The sensitivity about all of this is ridiculous. I am sure in your house hunt Lauren, that you didn't have kind words for every house you saw.

Ok, back to work and realtor.com.

After I posted a pic of our house and when we were looking I got interesting FM about the neighborhoods we were looking in and someone who was looking at a lot of the same houses saying nasty things. It was just weird.
