OK -- On to another heated topic!! Toddlers sleeping in parents bed?

Original post by elle

Help!! Aidan always wants to come in our bed. I put him to sleep in his crib-- but he cries around 2 am wanting to come in with us. I guess out of laziness and exhaustion -- I just bring him in bed.. BUt I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. Dh and I dont mind him there-- but I get scared he will never leave!!!! Anyone else going thru this?

I’m really worried about this topic! DH and I have a feather mattress and tons of pillows and to top it off it’s only a full size bed, so there’s only really room for me and him. And lately with this ever growing belly of mine, it’s getting tight in there since he’s 6’4” and I feel like I’m 4’ wide…

We have a cradle for her and she’ll sleep with us… also a friend of mine offered to let me use her co-sleeper, so if this whole cradle business doesn’t work, I might just have to take her up her offer and use the co-sleeper. But then wouldn’t I have to take my feather bed off?

For newborns, if you want them in the same bed with you, try the Snuggle Nest - it's a safe way to have them with you, and it ensures that you can't roll over onto them. It's their own little 'bed' that goes in your bed with you. It travels well too, and you can put it on the couch next to you while you watch tv, so they can sleep next to you if you want. They do outgrow it pretty quickly, but it's good for the first month at least.

I haven't read all the other posts, I just want to say that my sister did the same thing with my neice. My neice would wake up at all hours during the night, and my sister was just too tired to deal with it so she took her in bed. Needless to say, my neice will be 8, and still cannot sleep throught the night in her room. She has tried everything (bought her a cool 'nightlight', a stereo, TV/DVD player, oh yeah, and a PUPPY!) to try to get her to sleep in her room, and nothing's worked.

My neice is constantly exhausted, and my sister and BIL have no privacy.

Luckily my son has never done this. I remember a couple times when he was sick I'd let him sleep with me, and yes, I love waking up in the middle of the night and looking at him and having him next to me, but it's just not a habit I wanted to start, and not one I'd want to deal with breaking.

....some day he won't have time for me and some day he's going to leave me and get married and I'll be the 'Mother-in-law'...

At 11 they have no time for Mom, it's more fun to hang out with Dad and make mischief

AW!!! Your sons will ALWAYS put their mommies first and NEVER forget them!!!! After all, they say a boy loves his mommy and looks for someone like her and a girl does the same with her daddy!!!

So...you're saying I remind my husband of my MIL - need I say, I'm not happy

...I seem to remember the saying 'A son is a son till he takes a wife, a daughter is a daughter all her life..'
