Is this statement true? A LIweddings.com rep answered a question about budgets for me.
' for a modest wedding of your size (60-65), unless you plan on hosting it in a church or temple basement or VFW hall, which may run you about $15,000 if kept simple, you are looking at minimum with very few perks about 22,000 to 25,000 and if you want an evening wedding I'd shoot closer to 25,000 to 30,000.'
Is this really what a '09 LI wedding will cost?

NY weddings are $$$. Keep in mind no matther the size of your guest list some costs will remain the same like the photographer, videographer and DJ or Band. There are places to cut the cost like Friday or Sunday evening weddings and planning the wedding off season. We have increased our budget twice and my darling FH does not want to include small things like postage or invites until I point out how all of these 'little' things add up.

IDK. I think it's all dependent on what you spend on catering. I'm spending 20K on catering and that's for 200+ ppl.
IM SPENDING ALMOST 22,000 FOR 150 PEOPLE

if you do a day wedding, you can really cut costs on the RH, which is the biggest chunk of the bill. go for a dj instead of a band, keep flower costs low by considering CP alternatives, book a reasonable photog, etc. in the end, you may be able to get the wedding to pay for itself with the gifts so that you're only laying out 20k.
