OMG girls I am so depressed right now.....

I'm at work and a new hire comes in who everyone thinks looks like me.
So when I'm introduced to her I'm immediately insulted. She is OK, pretty plain and about 15- 20 lbs heavier than me IMO. People in my office actually thought she was me from behind! I am so insulted and depressed over this.

A handful of people said they don't think she looks like me, but I don't know if they are just saying that because they know how bothered I was by it.

I guess I'm fatter than I thought. I keep telling FH that I used to be much more attractive and this incident just proves my point.

Just had to vent. Thanks ladies!

Don't even worry about it. it's amazing how 'off' people can be sometimes. I have medium brown hair and you wouldn't believe how many people describe me as blond! they don't know what they're talking about - the important thing is that you are happy with yourself. if for any reason you're not, then you can change for YOU, but don't let these jack@sses dictate that!

OK!!! You're so not at all fat- you're veryy beautiful so if they said the other girl looks like you, they're not insulting you they are complementing her..............and no one looks exactly alike..people are always so off with that kinda stuff..

I'm sorry you're feeling bad. If it makes you feel any better a co-worker of mine kept telling me how much I resembled one of his friends. Well, I just met her last week and she totally looks like a tranny. She had on real heavy makeup (I barely wear makeup), a HUGE wig that was very obviously a wig, and I just didn't think we looked anything alike. However, I always think certain people look alike and other people completely disagree with me.

We all have certain features that may remind someone else of another person. It could be something as simple as they way your hair falls in the back that made them think it was you. Plus, maybe your coworkers aren't looking at each other that close to really 'really' notice how you look from behind. I'd find some comfort in that at least

I agree that it's a compliment to her, not an insult to you! Something similar happened to me when a girl who was my height and blond started working at my school - IMHO, we don't look alike at all (she looks like a fish, I don't), but b/c we were the same height and had similar hairstyles, everyone thought we looked alike. It was really annoying at first, but then I realized that they're blind!

And a lot of times when people say you look like someone else, they mean b/c you have similar hair color/height, not necessarily weight. You're beautiful, so no need to worry!

thanks girls, you're really making me feel a whole lot better. Actually, as a couple of you pointed out, my coworkers kept saying it was the way her hair looked from the back and her height. Which is kind of stupid since I have my hair in a ponytail today and hers was totally down! WHATEVER!

On a positive note I've been compared to Candice Cameron (DJ from Full House) a lot and Reese Witherspoon (who is definitely much more petite than me & I only really got that one when I was blonde). I'll take those instead!

*** one of my coworkers and my manager just came over to me and told me no way do that girl & I look alike. One of them, a man, told me I'm much prettier and thinner. OK now I feel better

A 'glow about you' OMG that is unbelievable!!

Don't let it get you down...people are SO off when it comes to resemblances...just look at the unreliability of eyewitness accounts! 10 different people will give 10 different descriptions!!

Don't worry, I've been told that I look like Alanis Morrisette! On more than one occasion. And I do not like the way she looks at all. But I've also heard Sheryl Crow and I don't mind that. Either way, people shouldn't comment on other peoples looks!!

I agree with you 100%. It is incredibly rude to comment on peoples looks especially in the workplace which is supposed to be a professional environement. Dont be upset and try not to take it personally b/c i just looked at your pics and you are beautiful

ohmigod... that happened to me once too... and the really freaky thing was it was when I was actually reasonably thin (about 140 lbs and 5'9') I just had a little puff in the navel area...
If I was pregnant then, I'm expecting multiple births now!

when will people learn that it's only ok to ask if someone's pregnant when the head is already emerging....


don't get upset over things like these. It really means nothing. Think of all the times co-workers cut off half their hair or dye it another color, and no one realizes... People are oblivious.

Most of all, you shouldn't put any value on superificial appearances. They come and go. Only your character truly matters

I wouldn't take it to heart...

1st: you are a beautiful girl: just look at your photos: and NOT FAT. You are NOT.

You probably have similar hair color/style: something easy to see. I get confused with 2 girls at work...same reason & they look VERY different from me.
