I am so mad I want to cry, I felt so bad fr Zim, although Zimmer stepped up to him, Pedro sould have backed off, why would you ever push a 73 old man down what a #*@$! @$$

Ok, realistically...what would you have done if a 72 year old man that weighs 300 pounds was headed for you like he was going to pummle you? Look beyond what Pedro did, and you will see that Zimmer was going after him completely unprovoked. Pedro was slow jogging onto the field during the meelee, and Zimmer CHARGED him. There was literally nothing else for him to do but grab him and get him the f out of the way. Granted, it was disgusting, but Zim should NOT have been on that field! The Red Sox were friggen animals tonight and so were their fans, but Zim should NOT have been on that field, and should NOT as a coach, have charged ANYONE.

The only one out of everyone in that meelee that deserved to get booted was Zimmer...but out of respect, he didn't...period. No one got booted, because honestly...it was a draw. There wasn't one person on that field that was right or wrong period. And if they started ejecting, there would be no teams left to play tonight.

Yes he was running towards him but the way Pedro threw him down was so uncalled for! If you have no other way to stop a 73 year old man than to take his head and throw him to the ground the way he did than he shouldnt be playing any sport in the world!!!!!!!

They were out for blood tonight! And Zim not having a right to be on the field is way off..why doesnt he have a right?? Its his team members, he is a coach, he had every right to be there, run towards Martinez and do what he did.

But there was ABLSOLUTELY NO REASON for Pedro to have thrown him to the ground like that!!!!!!!! He was afraid of him?!?!?! So what hes overweight...what damage could he have done to him?? It was totally and utterly disgusting and it makes me sick every time they show it!

It's totally cool to disagree...tis the essence of sport.

However, Pedro was not doing anything, and Zimmer attacked him UNPROVOKED, the tapes clearly show that. But, Pedro was a complete a$$hole earlier in the game and it was clear that Zim was in fact acting on a bit of adrenaline from pure rage. IMO, everyone was an a$$hole tonight.

Boy am I glad this isn't the Mets.

Exactly!!!!

It was just a bunch of overzealous imbeciles on that field tonight. Everyone was out to prove something...everyone out to be the champion, and in the end, they were all a joke. There was a very very good game in there, and it was all overshadowed by ego. If Boston ever wants a title, they sure as hell better start acting like champions. I'm not even going to start on Roger Clemens. I'd be here all night.

I sat here with my brother and DH tonight and watche, and my brother said right after the Pedro incident where he was pointing to his head...'by the 8th inning, the fans are going to be all liquored up and something else WILL happen'. Sure enough, Jeff Nelson is getting whooped in the bullpen by a fan! WTF does this have to do with baseball?!

I say it all the time...things would be peaceful if only the non-bandwagon fans would be allowed to speak about baseball and about the teams. It's the bandwagon morons, and usually their girlfriends who can't name 5 players on the teams that have the most to say in the nastiest way.

It could have been worse. He's 72 years old, he fell to the groud, he's overweight, guy could of had a heart attack on the field.

I dont understand why do pitchers have to throw balls at a batters head, charge at each other on the field, and get into heated arguments.

Whatever happened to just playing ball and having a good game.

How can you say that Pedro didn't deserve to get booted???? He threw the ball at Garcia's head and then threatened to hit other people in the head!!!!!! I understand that Zim charged him but come on, you throw and old man to the ground.

They fine 3 players and Zimmer. Zim got a $10,000 fine, Pedro a $50,000 fine (with the money he makes will that really hurt him?), Manny Ramirez- $25,000 (again does this hurt him?) and Karim Garcia $10,000 (which probably does hurt him because he doesn't make that much, relatively speaking).

I felt so bad for Zim tonight. At least he apologized and said how bad he felt. How bout Pedro???????? No comment. What a jerk!! He could have avoided the confrontation easily. Sure Zim came at him, but give me a break. Zimmer is 72 and Pedro is 31. Pedro couldn't avoid him???? Please.
