Omg Unbelievable!

So - About 2 weeks ago I posted on here that I got a new job that I was to start April 1st. Well, Friday was my last day at my current job and since we got out early we decided to go for some drinks. An hour or two into us celebrating, I get a call from the employment lady who got me my new job. She tells me that due to Citibank's massive layoff on Monday that I basically don't have a new job anymore (i work in title insurance and basically we do closings for people who re-finance with Citibank). I cannot go back to my old job... they underpay and they really treat everyone like ****. SO right now I'm on the prowl for a new job but can you even believe how messed up this is? If you know anyone that's hiring please let me know. The FH is being really supportive and totally understands why I can't beg for my job back but also wants me to get a job asap. So I guess until then - I will be on careerbuilder and LIW all day tee hee. Thanks for reading if you made it this far

Thank You everyone... I really appreciate it. I am on a massive job hunt and hopefully will go on some interviews this week. I've learned that unfortunately, this is the business world and it just wasn't meant to be. The good thing is - the FH has vacation this week so we get to hang out together all week

omg.... im sooo sorry to hear that!!! i heard about this big layoff awhile back b/c i have a friend that works for them ... why would they even hire you to begin with if they were unsure... This has been in the works for quite some time now .... ugh

Aw thank you. I think the company I was going to start at did a sh**load of business with Citibank. And after the layoff, their account with Citibank home equity was terminated resulting in them having to rescind my job offer. Citibank has been laying off so much over the last year. And it ***** that I'm in this business right now. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

OMG, I'm so sorry. That is so horrible. I always believe things happen for a reason, so I'm sure there is a much better job out there for you, just you wait and see.

awww keep your chin up! everything happens for a reason (at least i believe it does!) im sure there is something better to come along down the line for ya!

aw i'm so sorry! i just got laid off too! although you didn't even get a chance to start working, so sorry! i just applied for unemployment, you should definitely see if you qualify!

i didn't think i would qualify since i got a severance package, but i do! soon i'll be making more than i ever did working (weird!). i've never gotten paid to do nothing before, it's a very strange feeling.

we'll both find work very soon i'm sure! somebody has got to be hiring!

Wow I can't believe they did this to you. I'm on the hunt for a teaching job in a private school, I know how you feel, its tough to find something, I'm so desperate but I'm willing to substitute teach to get my foot in the door.
