we are getting married in Oct and everyone keeps telling me that is hurricane season and to stay away from certain places.
Can you please let me know where to go so we do not get washed away by a hurricane? everyone is telling me to head over to Mexico - any suggestions would be a life saver!

How about Hawaii, Aruba or Tahiti? You can also go to Europe.

Dominican Republic... for some reason doesn't get hit by hurricanes (knock on wood). I was there last October (2006) and the weather was beautiful. I will admit that it did rain every night...but at like 1am. It was quick and short, and was beautiful again right away. It was even kind of nice to get the rain. I was in Punta Cana.
I am Dominican and I hate to burst any bubbles, but the Dominican Republic DOES get hit by hurricanes - they are right in the hurricane belt.
Although one thing to keep in mind is that hurricanes do not hit every island every year. Some are more likely to be affected than others.
We're still considering St. Lucia for our honeymoon even though we're getting married in mid October - but since that's the end of hurricane season and St. Lucia is usually out of the main path, our TA has said it should be fine. We'll see.

heh, yeah, the mediteranian is pretty much outside the hurricane belt and is my favorite destination....
