OK so how many reception halls did you visit before you picked 'the one'? I am only planning to visit 4 - maybe 5 - and was just wonderin how many you guys visited.

Re: One more reception question
We went to 12. But we kept changing what we were looking for, and we were waiting for the 'wow this is it!' moment, which didn't happen until we saw the last place. My one friend booked the first place she saw though, which I wouldn't be able to do. I like to see a bunch of vendors. I think 4-5 is a good number.

Re: One more reception question
We visited a total of 5 however that was because I had so much time to research places on here and read reviews that I was slowly able to rule places out as we realized what was important and things we were looking for in a place (as well as what we could afford) I'd say the list started out at about 20 and then dwindled by the time we actually went to look at places. Good luck with your search, you'll just know when you find the perfect place.

That's EXACTLY what we did - but to narrow it down to three I did a TON of research. I checked about 75 places on the computer before I selected the possiblities. Then we checked out three and the first one ended up being so 'us' that we booked it that day!

Re: One more reception question
We spoke to about 30 on the phone and from there I narrowed in down primarily on price, since we were on a budget. From our wedding aspect, we only visited 1 and booked it before we left. But the other ones we were considering we have been to for affairs and were familiar with the facilities. I had that gut feeling with the first one and went for it!

Re: One more reception question
We went to about 4 or 5 places. I also looked and researched a ton of places just by telephone calls, websites, and of course - LIW.

One - We knew that was the type of wedding we wanted before we got there. I think we were pleasanly surprised by how much nicer it was and the cost.

Re: One more reception question
I didn't even look at one. My dad suggested my venue the day I got engaged and I never even thought twice. It was just the perfect place- on the water, only one wedding, unique place that no one I knew had gotten married at before.
I visited this summer and it was exactly what I wanted.

Re: One more reception question
We went to six. I didn't want to go to any more than that, I found it a very stressful process. I wanted to walk into a place and have the 'feeling' which I finally did when we went to Westbury Manor. And so did my FH and my mom.

Re: One more reception question
We visited 4. I was going to book Milleridge Inn on the spot but decided to keep looking. I visited 3 in one day (Westbury Manor, Swan Club and Fox Hollow) and booked Fox Hollow that day. We walked out, looked at each other and said that this was the one.
