One photographer or two??

One photographer or two??

Was wondering? I have been to four different photographers and two of them offered dual photographers in the package while the other two offered one (could add a second for a fee). I was wondering whether most brides opted for two photogs during their event or one. Two photogs can offer different angles and many more proofs but the price is more expensive. I'd like to know if it's worth it to go for the two or if the one can handle the task. Any insight or experiences on the subject will be appreciated. Thanks girls!!.
p.s. having 125- 150 guests (places offering one photographer said having two is just not necessary)

we will be having 2 photographers....but we will be expecting about 260 guests....this way one can focus on us and the other one can catch everything else. We also wanted two camera coverage for the ceremony.

We wanted 2-for no other reason then I wanted 2. There was no rhyme or reason behind it. I got some really great photojournalistic pictures by having 2.
I think its personal preference. I only had 150 guests.

We booked with 1 photographer. I contemplated adding a 2nd photographer, but I didn't. That is one of the few things I would change about my vendors ... I would have added a 2nd photographer to my package. I think they would have captured some of the important pictures that were missed.

When you look back on your wedding, your memories will eventually fade over the years, but you will have your photo & video to help you relive the day.

Since you only have upto 150 guests - I don't think a second photog is necessary - but if you have doubts and are willing to splurge on one thing - it should be this.

Definitely 2. We had 90 guests and it was still worth it. They were able to split up and get different things from different angles. We also had the second shooting with black and white film (not digital) so that gave us a completely different look.

i had two. my photographer put it this way : 'Just think of all the shots she'll get while I'm taking pictures. whether it be of other guests, details, a different angle, or even zooming in & getting a great candid shot while i'm working on posing u or taking an entirely different photo.'
I think it's totally worth it. u get two different perspectives of ur day & it leaves u with BEAUTIFUL pics. good luck!

we are having 100-120, and we booked with 2 photographers. I was told that it helps, you get more shots, and one can focus on formal shots, the other on the candids. Plus then you have one photographer with you getting ready, and one with FH getting ready

We're having 150-200 guests but only booking with one...I don't think two is necessary.

I had one in my package, but always asked DH if we could get a second, and he always said 'No!'

Well, he got me the second as a wedding gift, and they were great. She got some amazing shots!

If it is in your budget, I say go for it, but it is not necessary

I feel exactly the same way. We had 1 photographer and absolutely LOVE every picture we got back, but there are a lot of things that we don't have pictures of. Not having a 2nd photographer is really the only regret I have. If you have the extra money to have one, I would definately spend the money on that.

I have one right now. I think about adding a second every once in a while. I will most likely have about 140 guests ... I am not sure it's necessary, but I may want it. I may email my photography studio to ask what the fee would be.

Re: One photographer or two??

I was considering having 2, partially b/c I wanted to have one at my FH parents house while all the boys were getting ready. However, every photographer that I spoke to said it wasn't logistically possible to send the second photographer to the boy's house, so I decided it would be a waste to have 2 at my house. I think my FMIL will be hiring a separate photographer for like an hour to take some pics of the boys all getting ready. The girl I spoke to at my photograhper said a lot of ppl do that. Also, my dj brings someone that takes pictures that will go up on screens during the party, and I get copies of all those pics too, so I'll have plenty of random party shots.

Just a thought: any photog. you hire should be able to do both traditional and photojournalism - even if it's just one photographer. All the ones I went to said they could do this. If they can't - they might still be good - just not very well-rounded, and if you want both, I would keep shopping. But you shouldn't need to get 2 photogs for the two different styles.

I totaly agree!! We had 2 photographers and between the 2 of them, they got everything!! It was perfect. The best shots were during the ceremony, b/c we had 2, they capture both our faces and the same time and didn't miss a thing.
