FH and I want to do candy apples...my mom is in such an uproar about this saying no one will like this as a favor nor will they eat it
if you got a candy apple as a favor at a wedding...would you eat it/think it was cool? or be like w*t*f?

Re: Ongoing favor conflict
I think anything edible is usually a hit. Even if the person doesnt eat it themself-- they could give to a kid. I like the idea alot!

I would love it...
what size apples were you planning on using? if you use small ones people might be more likely to eat them at the wedding...

Yes! I think it's a great favor! We went to a wedding last year where they did this - I ate the candy apple in the car ride on the way home

I personally wouldn't eat it. But either FH will. But i'm sure it wouldn't go to waste.

Re: Ongoing favor conflict
OMG i'm going through the same thing!! I want to do caramel apples and FH's family and one of my MOHs hates the idea! Their reasoning is because the older people won't want them. My family and most of my BP love the idea.
My solution? I'm getting the apples anyway and I'm also getting a more traditional favor to go alongside it. Something I can give one per family. The apples are for anyone who wants. If I have 220 people at the wedding, I'll order 200 or so apples and maybe 75-100 traditional favors. Maybe coasters.

My candy apples are going to be my place card holders and we got the same flack for it but I don't care its cute, its different, and you don't see it at a whole bunch of weddings.

Re: Ongoing favor conflict
I dont eat them either but I still think that it is a very cute idea. Lots of eatable favors go uneaten anyway and even when you give ppl keepsakes they usually just stash them somewhere and prob never look at them again anyway so I think that you should do what ever you want because you can never please everyone no matter how hard you try. I think your idea is very cute. Go for it.
