I also had awful side effects on Orthotricyclin (extreme mood swings, low libido, etc..) so my doc switched me to Lo-estrin. I'm happy with that-no bad side effects since i've switched.

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I think there are more side effects with tri-phasic pills. If you like some of the benefits from Ortho, try OrthoCyclene. It is a mono phasic pill (I take this one) and I never have PMS!

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I've been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a few years and I'm not completely crazy with it. I just realized however that I'm supposed to get my period on my honeymoon. Yikes! Normally I would take the pills straight through, but I tend to spot sometimes when I do this. Does anyone else have this problem? If I switch to another pill, would this happen as well? I'd really hate to have my period on the honeymoon. YUK!!

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I wrote something about this on the slim down board, this is my second month on Ortho tri cyclen and I am having weight gain issues. My boobs are almost a cup size bigger, and I feel puffy all over You would think I would be happy w. bigger 'girls' (FH is ) but i am annoyed, none of my bras fit and they hurt! Its like puberty all over again. My doc told me to give my bod 3 months to adjust to the new pills, so I am waiting it out. It ****s b/c I am on Weight Watchers, and now I am gaining back what I had lost Needless to say I am not thrilled about that!

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I just started ortho tri cyclen LO and I spotted almost the whole first month. I was not recently on the pill before it though, so my doc said to give it a couple months before switching. If after 2-3 months I am still all spotty he will switch me
So far I like it though...

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for a while and also hated it due to the same symptons you have. I find that mono-phasal pills are better for me. And although I begged my doc to put me on Yasmin he didn't want to b/c of some of the serious but rare side effects. He said 'if you were my daughter I wouldn't put you on them b/c of it.: So instead Im on Allese and everything is back to normal.
So now you have about 25 different pills to choose from!!

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I was on the generic ortho tri cyclen and then just this week switched to the patch. So far no side effects at all and it is *so* nice not to have to remember to take a pill every day!

Re: Ortho Tri-Cyclen
I had the same reaction once I switched to taking in the morning; it was an emotional rollercoster everyday and even worse the week before my period. I used to take it at night, but kept forgetting, thats why I switched. Anyway, I thought I was just psycho and when I talked to my GYN he just switched me to a monophasic pill (MICRETTE) which I've been doing very well on for 2 years. You might have to try a few different ones until you find one thats right for you. Good luck
