Paging all Latin Brides

Hi Ladies,

I see there are a few new Hispanic brides on the boards and thought it would be nice to start a greet and meet thread. IN NO WAY AM I TRYING TO DISCRIMINATE OTHERS. Just like some threads are started for Greek or Jewish brides, etc.......
I thought there would be a few things we would have in common that would be hard to get suggestions from others.

For example, my DJ is (FM for info) They cater to Classy Latino Weddings and Events.

For those with 'Pelo Malo', hee-hee-hee, I found a greta Dominican woman in Westbury. She works at Celi's Beauty Salon and her name is Leiny. FM me if you want more details.
We are getting married at Leonard's of Great Neck in September. This is us:

One more latina bride! I'm Dominican and my FH is 1/2 Dominican and 1/2 Boricua!

Qucik question, is anyone doing las arras (sp?) if so , are you using regular coins or are there special ones?

I am not doing the arras but I am considering doing 'el lazo' - I think it would be a nice way to show the two of us becoming one.

I believe you can get coins from anywhere. Here is some info. I came across:

Any exciting wedding plans for this weekend?

I would really like to set up this Latina GTG so let me know the following if you are interested:

1. Is a Friday or Saturday better for you?
2. If Friday is more of an option for everyone, would you like to do something in the city??
3. Is mid September a good time for you?

hi everyone. My FI is puerto rican and I'm Irish. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for our wedding. We're only having about 50-60 people, mostly his family. My family adds up to about 7 people. Most of his family does not speak English. We were both born her and he's very americanized. I know we'll play some merenge, bachata, salsa and reggaeton but english music as well. Are their any puerto rican traditions we could incorporate into our wedding to celebrate his heritage. I don't really want to do bi-lingual, would this be wrong since quite a few people don't speak english?

Hey there....

I'm in the same boat too... but the other way around.. my FH is Irish and I'm Puerto Rican.
Its hard to come up with a 'puerto rican' wedding tradition because our customs are very americanized. I'm having an english only service...but most of my family lives here on the mainland.... those who are stepping off the plane..can just follow along .. We are just playing the same genre of music you listed....along with any 'in' tunes.
