Parent Gifts For Parents Who Aren't Paying?

Original post by leeserd

FH and I are completely footing the bill for the entire wedding. Do we still have to give parent gifts at the rehersal dinner? Traditionally the bride and groom give the parents gifts in thanks for the wedding that their parents have paid for for them, but our parents didn't pay. Should we still give them something for being our parents and supporting us or are we off the hook? I don't mean to sound cheap but its getting down to the end and we have big payments due and every penny counts.

I was wondering the same thing....I felt that gifts were only given to the parents when they paid...I was thinking I was not going to give them a gift... I don't know??!!
