People getting married in the Catholic Church
Have you had a meeting with the priest who is marrying you yet? How far out did you have your first meeting? Thanks! My church hasn't been the greatest with answering messages or returning calls so I'm just wonderin if I should be more forceful about the whole situation.

I'm a 2015 bride, but we already met with our priest and took the FOCCUS 'test'. We were also able to sign up for pre Cana already too... Maybe just go down there and see what is required of you.

I agree with this! I met my priest back in October of last year. I've already done the FOCCUS and have our pre cana scheduled for April.

We are doing pre cana in april too! Even though our wedding isn't until the following year they are allowing us to do it early. FH is a police officer and his schedule changes last minute all the time so theres a good chance that we might not be able to make certain dates, so we are trying to do it as early as possible.

When we booked our church we met with a priest who said he would be our priest if he doesnt go on his trip to India, which he does every year. So I am guessing that I have not yet met the real priest. We are signed up for pre-cana but have not done anything else with the church at this point.

We met with the priest at the parish we are getting married at when we picked our date back in February and had to answer all of these questions and the priest filled out an informational packet with our information. Then he gave us a booklet from which we have to pick all of our songs and readings and other specifics. However we are having a visiting priest from saint johns university marry us and he had to write a letter to the parish requesting to be the officiating priest. We took foccus online and are signed up for precana for December. Hope this helps!

As soon as I called the church about my date they wanted me to meet the priest almost immediately. So I would keep calling them

Ok. Ugh. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have called them. I have been calling them for the past year. Maybe I'll just go down there AGAIN. I know that they have my date in the book but we haven't met or taken any test or answer any questions. Thanks for the information

we had a meeting at our church (OLV) right after we booked the church. We met with the priest and did a whole pre-assessment thing with him to make sure we were 'fit to get married' lol and then did Pre Cana.My FH's friend just got ordained 3 months ago and will be saying our ceremony for us, so we had him contact OLV and now we will just be talking to him about everything else... I'm excited that we know our priest so well, it makes the ceremony more special :)

Our priest is not at the parish we are getting married in, but we are meeting him 6 months before to plan the ceremony. I should actually call the church and see if they need to be involved at all prior to the rehearsal.

We met with him for the first time in September. We don't have to see him again until after pre-Cana is completed, which we are doing in April.

Ok. Maybe I'll just wait until after pre Cana. We are doing that in February.

We met with our priest for the first time in February, then in June and we have our third meeting tonight. The priest told us there was a lot of paperwork he has to do and likes to break it up. We also finished our pre-cana, my church doesn't require FOCCUS

I met with my priest when we first booked with the church. We had a really nice conversation with him and it made us both very excited that he would be marrying us!

I actually teach in a catholic school and that church is where we're getting married so I know the Priest well from school functions. However, it was a requirement for us to meet with him before taking the FOCCUS and doing pre-cana. If they're not returning your calls, do you have time to stop over there? That's annoying!

We called the rectory and they asked if we knew which priest we wanted to officiate. We knew a priest at that church, so he has been the only one we have met with.

When we booked with the church we met the Deacon which FH coincidentally knew already. We are bringing in an outside priest to do a bilingual service who is very well known in our community, and he is already familiar with my church and deacon, but I've only spoken with him over the phone and through e-mail. There's not much left I can do now, I'm just waiting to hear from my church about setting up PreCana. The deacon advised to get it done sooner than later, so that we won't have to worry about it when things get busy.

We were engaged in January and met with our deacon in March (right after we booked our venue shhhhhh). We are probably doing pre-cana sometime in the spring. I should really get on booking that!Welcome New Vendors
