People not that excited for you

Original post by MrsGRod09

Do you just feel that the people you want the most to be excited are just not that excited for you?

Like today i told my mom my dress came in and she just said oh yea and if i'm going to try it on. That's it!! I just felt like damn if she doesn't care who does then.

ETA:At least FH said that it is becoming so real and that i'm going to be his bride

I'm happy your dress is in and can't wait for pics. My family, friends, and IL's do not care. My FH and I are paying for everything. If it wasn't for LIW's I would cry alot. So again Yes the dress came in. we will always be your cheering team.

Yeah my parents didn't seem so excited. At least my mom went with me to get my dress and see the reception. I had to drag my dad to the 1st place I was looking at....I think the closer the date will be the more involved and excited they will be. It will become more real to them. Can't wait to see you in the dress

I feel the same. My mom cries over any little thing. So I was expecting to see some tears when I tried on my gown..... not even a drop. All I got was ~ it's beatiful on you... Ohh well. I'm hoping to see some tears at the altar

My mom too. Just said it's pretty and fits you well that's it. Nothing else no excitement nothing.

I got to the point that I asked her if she didn't want me to get married. Big mistake! I wanted to hear her say ' of course I do' instead I got ' you the one that knows' I'm happy for you either way... WT....??
Then she has days where she can't stop talking about the details... so weird -

Omg same here i actually got into a huge fight with her and told her that since she is the only close family that i have that she needs to be excited for 3 people meaning herself, my dad who passed away and my grandmother who passed away. She says to me oh you expect me to jump and down and be happy i said Yes why not i'm your only daughter. She is still the same acting like she doesnt care.

Maybe she's like that because of your Grandma and Dad not being there??

Probably so but since they are not going to be there then i need her to be excited for me. I can understand she is sad and all so am I but what can we do her being so bland about stuff that makes me happy is just not fair to. I sound selfish but she is the only close family i have in this world no one else.

I sort of have the same problem....I do not get along with FMIL (Wait...SHE doesnt like ME)...and we all know she is not happy about this marriage.

There is a lot of drama with her that took its toll over the holidays when my parents came to visit (their first time meeting FH's family) and it blew up at our engagement party. YEP...a ruined engagement party.

It's nice how FBIL and FSIL had their engagement party handed to them on a silver platter by FMIL and everything else but FH and I are crap....but whatever.

I think my mom is happy for me, but she sees the family I am marrying into and that's when her excitement dies. It ***** but I am just dealing with it.

Remember it's about you and FH's relationship and the bond the two of you have.

I feel ya! I try to just remind myself that no one will ever care about our wedding as much as we do.

So true!!!! My bridesmaid told me that over and over again during the last 9 months or so cuz she went through the same thing last year with her wedding!!!! These r the times u truly learn to appreciate how lucky u r to have FH!!!!!

Same here...wow and I thought I was the only one. Thank goodness for LIW boards!

In this process I realized how naive I was about so many people and friendships. This truly is the time when people show their true colors and while this is a very expensive lesson, it's worth learning it now as opposed to later. At least now you'll know who is worth your time and care and who isn't.

I was in tears literally the other day when I realized how no one really cares about this big event aside from the immediate family.

Re: People not that excited for you

I can completely relate to you! Its really true what people say that your wedding isnt going to be as important to anyone else... Its just not... Not even your bestest friends and even family... Ive had people who have pulled sh*t on me that left me jaw dropped and its fine... Until it their time they wont understand... And then they will know...

I dont care anymore... I let it all roll off my shoulders... The most important person to me is my FH and WE'RE excited! =)

Re: People not that excited for you

People are always going to be more focused on their lives than what is actually happening around others. Unfortunately when it comes to weddings, no one is ever going to be as excited or anticipated as you are being the bride. I understand that feeling when I planned my wedding, no one really has the time to listen or help. Everyone was just either too busy or tied down with things. On the days that they were off, I had work so we could never really meet up to go through wedding planning. I say just do everything yourself and make the best of it. If you rely on everyone to get things done, it never ends up going the way you want. It'll be ok and your big day will turn out amazing!
