Perplexing......

Perplexing......

What is up with the Dr.Pepper cherry vanilla? If that isn't a dichotomy I don't know what is. (Or maybe it's a trichotomy?)
Do cherry and vanilla really go together? And how does the Dr. Pepper flavor fit into the mix?
I would think chocolate and cherry go together much better, but still, the Dr. Pepper flavor would muck it all up.

Has anyone tried it?

P.S. Chocolate RULES over vanilla!
I still love vanilla coke though, and vanilla soft-serve. Those are the exceptions.....

P.S.S. I am SO going to get fired today!

You know, I saw commercials for this and was wondering the same thing..I can't imagine all of those flavors mixed into one. I might be the guinea pig and try it tomorrow..

Isn't Dr. Pepper a cherry flavor already?

ETA: I guess not. I awlays though it was. Found this at http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20000621.html
Dear Yahoo!:
What flavor is Dr Pepper?
Jen
Killingly, Connecticut

Dear Jen:
We've been known to enjoy a Dr Pepper every now and again, and we've often pondered how the good doctor gets the peculiar taste. We've heard it's prune juice. We've heard it's grape juice. We've even heard it's a top-secret combination of ingredients that only a few people know.
We started with a simple Yahoo! search on 'Dr Pepper,' which led us to two Dr Pepper categories. Choosing to head down the Drinks and Drinking > Dr Pepper path, we found six web sites dedicated to the popular soft drink. We clicked on the Official link, which actually led us to the commercial side of the directory. We went straight to the site from the doctor himself, Drpepper.com, a pretty cool site with Flash animation.

We clicked on the Our Story link and quickly learned that Dr Pepper is the oldest major soft drink in the U.S. It was first made and sold in 1885 in Waco, Texas. We scrolled down and learned more about the soft drink, its history, and Dr. Charles Pepper, the man after whom the drink is named. However, we didn't find any information on the drink's flavor. We decided to check out the FAQs.

The quest for an answer was solved, sort of. The second question asks, 'What's in Dr Pepper? Is prune juice in Dr Pepper?'

The answer:

The formula for Dr Pepper is proprietary, but prune juice is definitely not one of the ingredients. It is a blend of many spices and flavor extracts. The color is supplied by caramel especially made for the product.
So, the question remains unsolved, but at least some of the conjecture can be put to rest. Looks like you'll just have to be satisfied knowing that 'Dr Pepper makes the world taste better.'

I don't know about Dr. Pepper with Cherry and Vanilla, but I love Cherry and Vanillia frozen yogurt.

No, it's not cherry. I don't really know what it is. I bet it has some kind of strange Turkish spice in it or something That's the way I always think of it. Same thing with Mr. Pibb.

Re: Perplexing......

I know it sounds strange in theory, but actually its pretty darned tasty

I only drink Diet soda so that's the one i tried.. and I LOOVE Dr. Pepper so I was already the guinea pig for the Cherry Vanilla thingy

DH and I really liked it. Though we got sick of it really fast and went back to our usual Diet Pepsi.

And truth be told, it doesn't taste much different than regular old Dr. Pepper, to be honest.. just a little sweeter/cherrier

Mike and I tried it as well.
It didnt' taste that much different than regular Dr. Pepper. It just had a hint of cherry in the aftertaste. But it was very subtle. Nothing to go crazy over.

Re: Perplexing......

Well, Dr Pepper has a toasted almondy sort of vanilla taste already, so the new flavor will proabably blend in okay, but I just hate cherry and vanilla mixed together so I'm probably going to bad mouth it whether I tatse it not.

Also, 'new' flavors annoy me and leave much to be desired. Pepsi Holiday Spice = tasteless, Vanilla Coke = needs more insulin!

I didn't think it was that odd, jsut wordy. Cherry & vanilla to go together, at least in the ice crea world, and Dr.Pepper is already sort of cherry flavored despite what the powers that be say.

Now. . . Pepsi Spice. . .that's a pickle!

Pepsi Holiday Spice was downright dizzzgusting

ETA: and I agree about all the new flavors.. they start with a spark and go downhill fast. I.e., the Diet Coke w/Lemon and Pepsi Twist , Diet Coke with Lime

I mean is it really THAT HARD to stick a slice of lemon in your diet cola?

I'm so glad to hear that! I was pissed that I didn't get the chance to try it!

Liz - did you ever try the green bean casserole soda?

I just like that the TV commerical for the new Dr. Pepper uses 'Manah-Manah' from the muppets!!!

Re: Perplexing......

On the Lemon and Lime riff... I don't drink diet anything, but still like lemon in my Coke. Why can't they make regular Coke with Lemon... I'd drink it!

Also, please stop hiding the Cherry Coke like it's the shameful step-child of the Coca-Cola Co.

Re: Perplexing......

Liz, are you just a 'Coke' girl (COCA COLA that is ) or are your open to Pepsi products?

Because I'm almost certain that Pepsi Twist (their version of cola with lemon) comes in a regular variety

Alas to me, its just not the same though .. the lemony taste is SO FAUX that I couldnt get past it.. at least in the diet versions..

And Diet Cherry Coke is yummie

Edited for all my typos and grammatical faux pas
