Personal question...wedding gowns

Original post by jill13bean

My parents are having a hard time coping with how much my dress is even before fitting sand everything that goes with it....

I want to know if I am ... I have heard worse
The best advice is from other brides going through the same thing

How much was your wedding gown before alterations? after alterations?
Where did you get it?
Do you have a picture?

her is mine It was $3000 before anything... I haven't gotten to anything else..
We all fell in love with it... Mom, FMIL and FSIL

If you MUST have it, then you must. you have to be 100% happy on your day, its part of the cost. Maybe cut back somewhere else?

The designer is Amelia Casablanca. It is only sold one place in the USA. It is an Italian couture designer. It really is a work of art...handmand lace, silk flowers, etc. The picture does not do it justice because the sample dress was kind of fixed incorrectly.

I loved my wedding dress, and it was insanely expensive (because we had to alter the design a bit, and added 3 additional yards to the train, the price almost doubled).

My dress ended up costing $12,000. (St. Pucchi)
My tiara was $700.

I agree if you must have it you must have...

i wanted something different... and I got it

what we do for this day is unbelieveable... if I can spend this much on a wedding dress for one night and never wear it again then how come i can't go buy a tank top for $1200 from Bendels and wear it more than once

Afterall I guess I am not crazy haha

One more thing, everyone's dresses are BEAUTIFUL!

I love the wedding dress threads, I could look at them for hours!

Ginza Collection... I forget the style number. I got it at Bridal Garden in Bethpage for 795. I have no idea what my alterations will cost. Hopefully not another 795.

Re: Personal question...wedding gowns

is there anyway you can cut back elsewhere? if it the dress of your dreams, then i say go for it. why not offer your parents to pay for half.

IMO - i would not skimp on the quality and fabric of a dress. it makes a difference and people do notice.

Kathy you paid for it?

Re: Personal question...wedding gowns

No, my parents paid for the dress.
I was very fortunate.

Ironically, when I heard the price of the dress, I said to my mother, 'It's way too much, I'll find something else'...forget it, my mother insisted that it was 'THE DRESS' and we got it.

However, my DH and I paid for a good chunk of the wedding. IT's just the way it worked out.

T, when can I see your dress...I know it must be spectacular! I can't wait to see pics of your wedding!!!!!!!

jill13bean-
What was your original budget for your gown? I had a $1000 budget just for the dress, I ended up paying only $450 because I got my dress at a sample sale. I lucked out, but I know that I couldn't spend a penny over $1000 since I was way over budget on everything else.
But, in my opinion, if $3000 isn't that much over your budget (~$300), and you absolutely LOVE the dress, then go for it.
BTW, have you tried on the dress?

korkev, i am in LOVE with your dress!!! every time i look online, that's the one that jumps out at me but the corset back isn't really me, although I think it looks beautiful on other people. do you happen to know if you can get that dress with buttons instead of the corset back?

If your parents have the money and they want to do this for you, then you shouldn't feel bad, I'm sure it give them great joy to be able to get you the dress of your dress as well as the wedding of your dreams.

I saw my dress for $1,160 (can't remember where) then saw it at the Wedding Center for $1,010, but found it on Bridesave for $8something. It's Maggie Sottero-Daniella (don't have a pic, I'm at work)

Re: Personal question...wedding gowns

I'm sorry to hear that you won't post....you should put them on Shutterfly or something, and only give access to the people who are your real friends.

Well, I'm going to try and go to the church to see you!

T- you should tell everyone that your pics MAY be available upon request. There will be a screening process first.

I want to see your pics, too. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
