Personal question...wedding gowns

Original post by jill13bean

My parents are having a hard time coping with how much my dress is even before fitting sand everything that goes with it....

I want to know if I am ... I have heard worse
The best advice is from other brides going through the same thing

How much was your wedding gown before alterations? after alterations?
Where did you get it?
Do you have a picture?

her is mine It was $3000 before anything... I haven't gotten to anything else..
We all fell in love with it... Mom, FMIL and FSIL

Re: Personal question...wedding gowns

I think everyone's gowns are georgous...and if (or your parents) you can afford 3K or 12K for your dres...more power to you!

I guess I'm a cheapskate...my dress was $575, alterations $200, shoes $40, slip $60, tiara $25, veil $25...grand total $925. My budget was $1,000. My whole budget is not more than Kathy116's dress

But...Kathy116...your dress was BEAUTIFUL!!!

My gown was more than double what I thought I would spend. It is 4500 before alterations(they are capped at 350 and bustle is 95), tax anything. But, it was the gown I fell in love with and could not walk away from. I don't have a pic, but it is a ball gown with a cathedral length train. I have never found the pic of the dress online or anything. It just came in this week, so I hope to take pics of it soon.

My shoes are 110, hoop skirt 50, corset I figure another 60

veil and headpiece I have left to get.

$3000 is tooo much for that dress. I'm sure you could find it cheaper elsewhere. I swear these bridal stores charge wayyyyy too much for their dresses.

I always thought I'd spend WAY more on my gown, but I wound up getting a bargain on mine (at least I think so). Its a Maggie Sottero , 'Felicity' and I ordered it from Netbride.. it was only $650 (but that doesn't include whatever alterations I'll need when I get it)

Kathy I think that dress looks wonderful on you.

My sister saw one of your pictures while I was on LIW when she was over here one day and thought you were a model

She loved your hair and headpiece too - so do I.

korkev, i am in LOVE with your dress!!! every time i look online, that's the one that jumps out at me but the corset back isn't really me, although I think it looks beautiful on other people. do you happen to know if you can get that dress with buttons instead of the corset back?

You can have a seamstress design a dress similar with buttons for you. It may be cheaper to do, too.

Everything together comes out a little over 3000, but that's for dress, alterations, veil and headpiece.

ETA: Here's a pic.

My gown is $2600. I got it from Bridal Refelctions in Massapequa. With alterations, shoes, headpiece, slip and a wrap for my shoulders is is closer to $3500. And worth every penny!

Here's mine...I haven't gone to try it on yet so I don't know how much it is. It's a Maggie so I'm sure it will be average for a wedding gown.

The designer is Amelia Casablanca. It is only sold one place in the USA. It is an Italian couture designer. It really is a work of art...handmand lace, silk flowers, etc. The picture does not do it justice because the sample dress was kind of fixed incorrectly.

That dress is UNBELIEVABLE! I think I remember seeing it at a Kleinfeld fashion show. Is that where you got it? I could never forget a dress like that. BEAUTIFUL, and worth every penny, You're right it looks even better in person!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is $3000 before anything, but I am not stressing about the money(too much) because I after I saw it I couldn't imagine wearing anything else.

That is called Royal Romance and it costs around $1000. I tried that dress on. Once I saw the picture I had to find it. I loved it but had already fell in love with 'Dion' (which is posted already) I knew that dress was the 'THE ONE' when I tried it on. Nice choice though, that is truly a beautiful dress!

I paid about $2000 with alterations and veil (not my head piece).
My dress was Paloma Blanca.

That Yolonda is BEAUTIFUL!!!
I actually tried that on at BR (Where I ended up getting my dress)

I say go for it. It is not an obscene amount of money. It is once in a lifetime, you should have the dress of your dreams. Besides, you will compare every dress to this one, and you may end up settling. Some people say you shouldn't spend alot of money on a dress you'll only wear once, but the dress is the center of attention, and it will be in almost every picture. It should be as spectacular as that dress!

That said, I spent about 3k on mine, when all was said and done. I don't know how to post pics, but here's a link:
