Hi Ladies, Can someone let me know if this is weird or what!?
I was quote a price for a package about 1.5 months ago and we were fine with it but did not recieve the contract. We were planning on meeting with the photographer in 3 weeks to drop of the deposit. I really loved her photos so I knew she would be great. I emailed her to see if I could see the contract before we meet and she said she had to raise her pricing due to demand. We moved our meeting to Dec, so I would be charged 2010 pricing instead of our original meeting in January. Is this shady?? She has gotten great reviews and her photos are amazing.
What should I do?

Re: Photo Price Change
that is really shady. IMO i would book with someone else. if they are already changing things on you i wouldnt trust them. Any good vendor should honor the pricing considierng you met with them and were waiting for a contract to be sent. Customer service is key for me so i wouldnt stand for that nonsense. There are plenty of other photographers out there. sorry that they did that to you though

Re: Photo Price Change
I understand why the pricing changes, but I would hope she would honor the pricing she gave you in your first meeting, especially if it was HER fault you were delayed in getting the contract.

OK! I feel at this point she left a bad feeling in me.
So can someone recommend a little non traditional photographer. I like a modern/vintage lifestyle feel.

Re: Photo Price Change
I am gonna go with SHADY! I very much understand why rates increase BUT that is ridiculous to try to increase the price on a customer between the 1st and 2nd mtgs. NOT a great sign. We LOVED our photog but I will confess, we had a small administrative issue with the businss and honestly, it wasn't fun or cool. Don't get involved as it could be the sign of more shenanegens to come!

Re: Photo Price Change
Well I never met with her but spoke on the phone and via email. Our first meeting would have been in 3 weeks where I was going to give her the deposit. I feel she should have told me that shes increasing the pricing. She also requested 50% deposit.

I would see if she comes down from the new prices when she meets you face to face.
it may be a ploy to get you to book asap .

Re: Photo Price Change
If you choose to not go with her I am using ADA Photographer in Syosset they are soooo nice and reasonably priced (you don't pay the last $1000 until the wedding books are done after your wedding).

Duet Photography did the same thing to me within 5 days of meeting with them, so I believe it. i still booked with them, but they gave me the 'supply and demand' bit too.
