Photography- Opinion Needed

How important is the personality of the photographer?

Im in a situation where I love North Island. BUT- Im not sure if their personality fits my fiance and I. (They are very artsy.)

While I loved Florio at Lighthouse. I think his work is the same as many others. But Florio has an amazing personality.


So who do I go with????????

I don't know if I agree with everyone saying 100% yes, it's the most important thing. If you are comfortable working with them and feel that you can express what you like, don't like, etc, I think it would be fine. You don't have to love them or their personality as long as you are happy with their work product and how they work with you.

I think you should get along and they should 'get your vision' however, I dont think I need to have the same personality as my photographer. Its not like Im going to go out for coffee with these people. Its more important to me that the photographer gets what I want.

I think if you have a vision and the photog gets it, it won't matter about their personality as long as you get along. Clearly you don't want someone who creeps you out or you flat out don't like. But you're also not going to an intimate dinner with them, you know?

I think you should take a few days and then speak with your fiancé about how you guys feel again. Like I told you, I love Florio, but he may not 100% get your vision.

I loved North Island but they were so out of budget for us I had to walk away. If you like the artistic look talk to Exo Photography, they're pretty similar but better prices!

I LOVE Florio. We hit it off right away and he really was my favorite we met with. I love his work, and his amazing personality pushed me over the edge into booking with him.

I am working with Florio and LOVEEE him!! Not only is he amazing to work with, he is SO passionate and this is super important. I also feel his quality of work is way above average!

I love Florio too. He showed my sister and myself tons of different pictures and took a bunch of notes down of what I liked and did not like. He spend so much time with us when I told him from the beginning that I was not going to be making a decision before talking to FH. He put me at ease and was so wonderful. My sister and I walked out of the shop, I called FH and then went back in and signed on the spot!

It is important. We didn't like the photographer from my brother's wedding. His pictures were gorgeous but I was pretty sure one of my cousins was about to punch him (and we're not a fighting family). He was loud and obnoxious and we just didn't get along with him which made it hard to smile and look nice.

You have to like the pictures and their style but I think you need to click with them on a personal level as well.

I think you should go with someone who makes you feel comfortable. You don't want an awkward photographer who possibly will make you very 'aware' they are present on your day. You also want to feel comfortable so creatively you are welcoming to their ideas without looking 'stiff', IMO at least :)

I think personality could make or break your pictures. If you don't feel comfortable with your photographer than your pictures might not look natural.

Omg. I have l many nitemare stories. One of my last interviews the photographer asked me what was I looking at??? I was just looking at him while he was talking. He made all these rude comments even 'hopefully you will be wearing makeup that day'. Meanwhile I don't need makeup if I don't want!! Anyway. I was in loooooove with his work but someone like that will make me uncomfy and my pics akward. Not natural so I'm not going to book him
