Hi! I'm new here, been engaged 2 months and the only thing I've got done is knowing exactly what I DON'T want. So envious that so many of you are well on your way!
Question: When are you having your wedding pictures taken? I hear many couples now opt to take it BEFORE the ceremony rather than after. The advantage being you get to spend time with your guests right away, you're supposedly more relaxed, etc. The disadvantage, if it is one, being that the groom sees his bride before the walk down the aisle.
When are you girls taking your pictures and why?
If this is a repeated question, I apoligize!

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
Welcome & congrats!
We're taking pics before the ceremony. One, because it is a Jewish ceremony so we'll have to sign the Ketubah, and two, because I don't want us or BP to have to miss any of the wedding. We're doing our reveal in a private area on the golf course of our venue, with only the photo/video people there to capture it. So, we'll still have that amazing moment of seeing each other for the first time, just in a different setting.

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
We are taking pictures before the ceremony, so that we do not miss our whole cocktail hour. We will have a reveal, so it will still be just as special. I am excited about doing it this way!

Welcome & Congrats... were not taking pics before the ceremony... our picture location is right across from the church so we dont have to travel for them... and were not doing a recieving line so we will have time to take pics at the church and the RH before the CH.

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
Welcome!
We are going to be taking our pictures after the ceremony. We actually have a lot of time between the church and RH because we left time for our guests to go to the hotel, check in and get themselves settle before taking the shuttles over. I am hoping that we can go to a separate location with the WP before going to the RH and then once we are at the RH we can take more pictures there with family members and friends and then start the party!

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
Hi and Welcome..
I did it after...But I also had a few hrs in between the ceremony and CH... so this way I was able to be there and not miss any of it. I really am not the type to do pics 1st....I feel like that ruins the 1st time he sees you as you walk down the asile. But everyone has their own views on it. Now if you are set on being married at the hall, you really have no choice to do pics b4

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
We're going to take photos after the ceremony. We want to stick to the tradition of not having him see the dress until the ceremony, and we added a half hour to the cocktail hour, so that we could enjoy a full hour at least!

We did before...we wanted to relax and enjoy the ch as well as mingle with our guests. I think it was the best for us.

We're doing it before since our ceremony is at the reception hall - We dont want to have to rush to squeeze all the photos in- plus we want to enjoy the cocktail hour!

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
someone in another post mentioned adding an extra 1/2 hour to the cocktail hour; maybe at the start with just limited drinks; fruit; this way you have that extra time to take pics if you don't want to see him before the ceremony. If you do this; you should be able to attend the last 1/2 hour of your CH if not sooner.

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
thanks for the input girls! I just talked it over the the FH and decided before would work the best for us. There still will be a 'reveal' and I really don't want to be away from the reception too long (i'd be so curious as to what's going on without us!!).
Also- my FH was the best man at his brother's wedding and he cried so i will be VERY offended if he doesn't even get glassy eyed when he sees me! He'd better keep an onion in his pocket or something!

Re: Pictures before or after ceremony?
I'm too traditional to take pics before the ceremony. I always envisioned FH seeing me walk down that aisle and so much emotion going through my body! That I feel is the MOST exciting part! Makes me look forward to the whole wedding... oh yea, and I can't wait for the honeymoon! WOOHOO!

After the church, before cocktail hour. I'm old fashioned..I don't want FH to see me until I walk down the aisle to him
