so I love martha stewart wedding magazine.. they have the coolest ideas...
so i saw this (picture below from this months mag, sorry it didn't scan well) and I was thinking.. for my placecards I could do soemthing like this. I could type the names of my guests on the outside of the envelope and then inside I could insert a small card that just says the table #.
It will probably be a lot more work, since the envelopes are really small and would be individual so putting them through the printer could be challanging.. but i think it would be different and cute.
My guests would find their names then have to open the envelope to see where they are sitting.
I think they are nice, it looks like some work, I don't think I would be able to do it, but I'm not that good at stuff like that

That's a very cute idea! Like you said, it would be a little tricky trying to print those yourself. Did she list instructions on how to print them?

Re: place cards
A friend of mine printed small envelopes with our names and then there was a card inside with our table number.

I know, that would have been very helpful if she had printed the instructions but I'm sure you will figure it out. That's one great thing about us 08ers getting started so early in our wedding planning, we have plenty of time to work on projects like this one....good luck

Re: place cards
oooh oooh....l saw this as a DIY at Paper Source
I don't know if there is a Paper Source around you....but check it out. They did this but used beautiful stamps to put the table numbers on the cards.
They had some examples that were BEAUTIFUL! I'm thinking of doing this too! I love the idea!!

I love the idea as well and if you can dedicate the time and patience to do it, i think its an awesome idea to the traditional table tags..

Re: place cards
no problem! At first I thought the idea of rubberstamping numbers on the cards would be cheesy looking, but it really wasn't! They used gold and silver ink (and the stamp was a really pretty style of font).....
It looked great!

Re: place cards
table number card:
set of number stamps
envelope they go in...
(the cards and the envelopes come in a TON of different colors [and the cards also come in different fonts- all letterpressed]....and you can buy ink for the stamps in a billion colors too!)
Can you tell I love placecards?
