Placecard ideas

Original post by julz33

I don't like the ones the hall gave us! Can everyone please post placecard or seating chart ideas and tell me where you got it and how much $... or if you did them yourself tell me how you did it and how much time it took.

Thanks!

When the guests pick up the votive placecards do they burn their hands? Sorry if that's a silly question but I thought glass votives get very hot ...

Here are a few ideas......the one with the carnations, you can have your florist do it for you.....it's easy and cheap!

You can also purchase blank placecards at staples and clear labels. Print out names on labels and put on placecard and then you can purchase those cute scrapbook accessories, such as pink flowers, wedding bells, etc. and adhesive tem to corner of placecard so it doesn't look plain and it's different, shouldn't take long to do........

Let me know if you need any help....I am always creating something crafty.

Good luck in finding something you like Julzz.

Edited to say that two photos did not post....I will try again Give me a sec....

Re: Placecard ideas

If you are doing votive place cards how are you giving them out/displaying them so people dont have to carry them around during the entire cocktail hour??????
I wanted to do the votive place cards but I thought it would be annoying for guest to have to carry around the whole time and also look congested if they were brought out on a seperate table at the end of the cocktail hour (didnt want a mad rush or an unorganized mob trying to get to the table for the place cards.)

Re: Placecard ideas

Julz33 we're getting married in the same place...I'm ordering my placecards from placecards.com and I shopped at Wrap With Us in Syosset (love them) for my placecard holders I choose a miniature gift box (holds candy) and the placecard...we're doing double placecards though....my seating chart is being done by my MOH she is a computer whiz I know she is using Microsoft publisher, she plans a lot of formal functions for the MD's at Northshore...there's a website on here someone recommended for seating charts but they are way too expensive...documentsanddesigns.com check them out you may like them or get ideas

Re: Placecard ideas

I love the plant idea! Thank You! I am fairly obsessed with placecard ideas...love the votives - thinking of wrapping something around them, or embedding in a flower. like this:

Julz- if you have no time, I would suggest going with the ones the hall gave you, and jazzing them up. I can't find the pic now, but someone from the knot used these clear, very classy pressed flower stickers - they were tiny and round, on the top of the placecard, and they looked just beautiful.

The votive placecards use tea lights instead of votive candles to avoid this. May still be warm but not hot. Also, you would want your hall to keep them unlit until about 15 minutes before the end of the cocktail hour so they don't really have a chance to get too hot.

That is what we are doing! The little round budvases with a black magic rose in each. The names and table number will be in calligraphy on a little white card. I thought it was so cute and was also worried about the votives getting too hot (they do look great though).

Re: Placecard ideas

Im going with no place card holders at all.
I didn't like what the hall had.

Im going to use plain white card holders if I can't find red paper. And just stamp or write in Jim's last name (our name) in Chinese at the corner.

If I get red paper I'd do this in Gold. If I use white, I'll print in black.

They'll just be tented up.

The other idea was we were thinking of buying Chinese lucky coins.. (square opening in the middle) and show how getting them to be a base for the card.
