Places to check out on Long Island

We are trying to come up with something to do Saturday...we have been to Sag Harbor and don't want to drive too far - what would be a good spot to check out for the day?

Somewhere we can eat brunch and window shop...not Great Neck! That's where we live!!

Port Jeff is a really cute town - I had lunch at his really cute, old bar called Tara's over the summer.....it is a really old place, but always crowded, and the prices for lunch can't be beat. I think it must be a local favorite because the decor is nothing to look at but the menu is good - Danfords is a good choice if you want on the water. There are several place over on the water that are nice.

And this is a far drive but the North Fork even this time of yr is great to visit. My inlaws live in Mattituck and the stretch of vineyards, wineries, pumpkin farms makes for a great day trip. Also Greenport which is out there has a cute town with some shops. and there are always the outlets in riverhead on your way in or out of the area.

It's in Bayville, past Oyster Bay. I know that it's a good summer spot, I'm not sure how it is this time of year. After my wedding last month we went to a bar, and there were like 3 locals and us, I'm not sure what it's like during the day. I'm not positive, but I believe that the Crescent has a brunch.

Tiger Lily is a great sandwich/wrap/salad place...its behind main street (to the east)

As mentioned earlier you cant beat the price at Taras...all food served on paper plates :)
