Please help...where should I buy my gown??

I live in CA and always thought I would buy my gown out here and so I could go to all of the fittings and make sure it fits me right, and then bring the dress with me on the plane...but the one thing is if it gets wrinkled it is like at least 80 bucks to get it steamed when I get to LI...so when I was on LI and looked at some gowns there..it sounds like I might be able to get my gown on LI..order it soon..and then do the fitting two months before and then the last one a few days before the wedding, I also think that the many shops on LI have great seamstresses..so what do you gals think?? and how many fittings are you all scheduled for, for your gown?? Thanks :)

Please help...where should I buy my gown??

Hi Michelle. I definitely think you should try Lillete's in Baldwin on Merrick Rd. When you come up again order your dress. You can wait for a month before your wedding to go for a fitting. Their seamstresses are great and the owners name is Cathy. I got my dress from there. (516) 546-5660. The store is closed on Wednesdays. Any other help with hair or make-up you can reach me at [email protected] Good luck!

Please help...where should I buy my gown??

I am planning my wedding from NC, and I bought mine in NY. I didn't want to have to deal with bringing the dress with us when we come up for the wedding. I just had my first fitting last week and then I'll go home again (Labor Day Weekend) two weeks before the wedding, to have the last fitting. I think it's easier to do it that way. GOOD LUCK

Please help...where should I buy my gown??

Martha Stewart Weddings just had a blurb on traveling with your gown. After reading it I said that's something Im gald I dont have to do. I would definately try to avoid that worry. There are so many shops here you could easily do all your shopping in CA and just purchase it here. Another option you might want to explore is to inquire locally about relationships with a salon or seamstress in NY, then you could have the gown shipped directly from the designer. You never know you might find 'The Dress' by a designer located in NYC. There are still a lot of them manufacturing right here on the west side!

Please help...where should I buy my gown??

Michelle-, I bought mine in NY at Paradise Bridals - Patchogue. I found the dress elsewhere but ordered through them. They matched the lowest price I found it for. I didn't want to lug it back from SF and my mother-in-law to be is a seamstress so my fittings schedule can easily arranged. Good luck.

The Bridal Suite in Bayshore seems to be very attentive and reasonable. That's where I got mine. I go for my first fitting in two weeks, with a Sept 15th wedding date. I think it's only two fittings unless you plan to lose a lot of weight.
