I've been on LI weddings since July of 04 and I've noticed a definite change in recent months.
Last summer the 04 and 05 ladies would post ONE post about a topic. The posts were very useful because instead of opinions/research etc. on a certain topic being spread out over several posts the collective experience and A LOT of info was on one post.
Lately, I've been noticing identical posts for the exact same vendor, topic, etc. on THE SAME DAY. That makes us look lazy. We are not taking the time to search and or asking others to bump posts for us. One long post is better than 16 identical ones.
When researching a vendor, topic, etc. please try to do a search first... at least in the past week.
For example, today, alone, I saw at least two new posts about the exact same photographer. I booked that photographer but myself, and other brides, can't answer a new post asking the same question multiple times during the same day. Meanwhile, there is a 13 page thread on that photographer that dates back over a year. That thread has a lot of info on it. I bumped it. It took me no more than 5 minutes to search for it.
Can we all promise to search a bit first?
Sorry so long just trying to keep the board better organized and helpful to us all.

I agree with those who pose the difficulties. I apologize to those of you who are on here frequently and get annoyed by repeating posts. But understand that when a person posts, sometimes there is no response and the post (within a day) can end up at the bottom of the topics board leaving the post to hardly generate a response. I have also been very grateful to those who have posted links to other threads that may answer our questions. The search is not as accurate, and yes, unfortunately it sometimes is hard to go through 200 results that may be close to reaching an answer. Sometimes these results are from 2004! It is nice to get 'fresh' responses.
Again, I am sorry if this as served as a nuisance for those who frequent the board on a hourly/daily basis. Please be patient with those of us who are not as familiar with doing the research on here or just new to this whole process in general (I am not really just speaking of myself, but I know when I first came on here, my gut instinct was to just post questions without realizing there was a search until someone kindly told me about it ).
Please keep this an enjoyable experience for EVERYONE. Many thanks to those who do take out the time to respond to the numerous posts. Your responses are definitely appreciated and helpful.

repeated posts never bothered me either. Its true that many times posts don't get responded to and end up at the bottom. It is also true that when you try to do a search most of the time the topic you are searching for doesn't even come up..... I just did a search for centerpeices and topics like wehre is your bridal shower came up. So if someone does repeat a post, I say give them a break.

A little piece of advice for those who post and don't get answers...instead of reposting, it'll work just the same if you find your original post, reply to it and 'BUMP' it to the top again.
Posting the same question on every single board (when it's BHB and a 'local' one it's fine, but when it's 3 or more...yikes!) is also a bit nutty...but to each their own.

Unfortunatelly, it would also be helpful if some reply posts were actually to answer the questions and not to say 'hi'..... blah, blah, blah just to socialize.

I understand the social aspect. I am not sure they really belong on the post though. There is email!
I personally like this chat room for all the good info. Not to make friends necessarily. But that's me. I appreciate all the info, advise I can get. We are indeed trying to help each other afterall.
I just think some posts get way too long to sort through. Maybe that's why people post new topics.
