please read sorry so long

i am a frequent poster here on the boards. i wanted to keep this confidential and not give up who i really am because i am embarassed of my situation. i can't tell anyone else of my problem so the first place to start is on here with my fellow bride to bes.

fh and i have been having a lot of problems. since we got engaged it has been quite an experience both good and bad. the worst has happened this past tuesday night. we got into a fight because i wanted to discuss some issues with him. he kept saying he didn't want to talk about it and for me to leave him alone. but i felt that i was hurting and the only way to make it better was to talk about it. then he said fine talk. i began to tell him all the things that were bothering me. plus it didn't help that i was pms'ing like crazy. the only thing that made me crazy was that he left the tv on and kept focusing on the tv while i was telling him the situation. so i said please shut the tv off, you are being rude. he said i am leaving this on. i flipped and grabbed his face and said shut the f ucking tv off! he was shocked that i did that. he said if i wasn't a girl he would have hit me right then and there. it got so out of hand that i was crying and walked out of his room. his mom was sitting in the kitchen watching tv and she asked what was wrong and told me to talk to her. i didn't want to because i never want to involve his mother in our problems but it was the only way i could get it off my chest. so here i am crying hysterical and telling her everything. so i felt kind of ok and fh was still in his room. he had locked his door and didnt want me to come in. he yelled we are done! he goes I want nothing to do with you. so of course i am all upset. i tried for an hour to talk to him. he ran out of his room and i ran after him to try and talk to him. he hopped in his car and sped off. i was left there in hysterics and didn't know what to do. i went back inside and went into his room and started to smoke some cigs to calm me down. he came back and said get out. i said no we have to talk please. so i am puffing on my cig and he said to me we are done. i said do you love me and he said right now no. i was so hurt because no matter what i would never say that to someone i love. so i told him everything and mentioned how depressed i was. he told me seriously the only way this is going to work is if you get therapy and then we will talk. i was cying so much. in the past when i would cry he would always be so quick to come over and comfort me. he didn't do that this time. it made me feel like this is the end. i went home that night and he walked me out. this was the first time in many years where he didn't tell me he loved me and didn't even hug me goodnight. that was the most hurtful thing. i felt like he hated me. so i went to sleep.

i woke up the next morning and it was 6:20am. i called him and told him that i hated waking up and not knowing what was going to happen. i sobbed and told him that i loved him so much and all his faults were accepted by me. i asked him if he loved me and he said he didn't know at that moment. of course i sob more. it was so painful to hear that from the person i loved and the one i would soon marry. he told me listen we will talk later. i will come see you after work. and he did. we talked about everything. he said i think you need to see someone- you are not the same anymore. and maybe i am not. my grandma died the 2nd day of our relationship. she helped raised me and ever since then i feel like i lost a big part of myself and things have not been the same. i have been a different person since then and it has been real hard coping with my grandmas death. i told him i made an appointment to see someone on monday. i will be seeing a shrink to talk about my problems and he was happy to hear that. even though we talked about our problems and are going forward with this wedding, i am scared. i am scared that i may blow this last chance and may not make it. however, i want it to work. but he is putting this all on me. and i am afraid that i may break and that this wedding may not happen. he keeps telling me i love you so much but i need the old you back. and he's right. i am a different person. i am sad, depressed and miserable. i want to be happy. i am not sad because of him- he makes me happy. it's just inside, i feel like i am going to break. i just hope we can make it and get through these few months and through the rest of our lives together. now things are good but i am still hurt because of him saying he didn't know he loved me. why would someone say that and then say a few hours later that he did. that's something that doesn't come out of nowhere. i used to be secure in the fact that i knew he loved me and that i could trust him. now i am not so sure. i think i am going to question this over and over again.

sorry this was so long. i needed to vent. i appreciate any opinions you may have. thanks for reading.

Oh my goodness sweetheart...it sounds like you have so much going on.

First thigns first, I think seeing a therapist will be wonderful for you. It is such a healthy thing to do especially when you are having all of these emotions and nowhere to let them out!

Secondly, no matter what...even if you are a different person FH needs to be there to SUPPORT you..not make you feel worse about it. It sounds like you were asking for support and he was being insensitive and not helping you. That scares me the most for you. We all go through issues and have our moments and tmes that we need help...that is what our husbands are there to help us with! It also sounded like he didn't have much respect for you by not listening to you with his full attention (leaving the TV on..) and being hostile when you said you needed to talk..that isnt fair!

I also totally agree with your feeling hurt when he said he didn't know if he loved you. Love isn't something that just disappears when times are tough. I would really talk to him about that and tell him that it scared you. No matter what happens I still love FH and he still lvos me. I do know what it is like ot be depressed/anxious and a 'different person.' For a long time I was a complete mess...but through it all FH was able to support me and even come with me to therapy sessions and all. You need t be LOVED not criticized for this. If you need ANYTHING please FM me...i know how challenging this stuff can be!

Whoa, sorry to hear of this. This is such a tough situation to be in. I think it's great that you have decided therapy as an option. I really don't know what to tell you but I do think maybe the best thing to do is have your FH go with you. Maybe working this out TOGETHER would be key. I wish you the best of luck and if you need anything, please FM me.

Edited for typo.

You can admit you are a different person. So, I am glad you are getting help.

But it also seems like FH and you could use some joint counselling sessions to work on your communications.

From what he was saying, he still loves you. But he may be conflicted as to whether he loves the you NOW, or the you he used to know. And he wants that old girl he fell in love with back.

Couples fight. Sometimes they are downright nasty, and people say and do things they later regret. Maybe FH threatening to call off the whole things was the kick in the pants you needed to get therapy.

I think it is better you got this all out now then after you were married. But, I strongly urge you to go to counseling together. There are obviously things you both need to say to eachother in a controlled environment with a neutral 3rd party.

I'm so sorry that you're going through all of this! It's great that you've decided to pursue therapy and talk everything out. Sometimes there's just no outlet in which to unload all of these thoughts and emotions and I think therapy will really help!

It sounds like FH said he didn't know if he loved you in the midst of a VERY heated argument at a time where he saw a different side of you that he didn't like very much. I don't think that means that he doesn't love you; I think he spoke out of anger and confusion. Hopefully that's one piece of the situation that you can move on from and not hold over him. Best of luck and hopefully you and FH can get back to good. Hopefully he'll be supportive as you go through this very rough time in your life.

im sorry that you are having such a hard time ... people say a lot of things they don't mean when they are angry. He obviously said it out of anger because if he really felt that way he would not still be with you. Sometimes, after a really bad fights, it takes some time to get back to the place you once were. Give it some time and I think it may help to go see one to talk to!

Sorry you're going through with this but I think it's better to go through relationship tests before you're married so you're sure it will work.

I think you need to work on yourself before you can concentrate on this wedding. If you can't fix whats wrong with you, how will you be able to be there for him.

Do you fight a lot or is this an isolated incident?

I'm in agreement with everyone that its great you are able to see you need to work on some things but I also believe that if FH loves you he should be there to support you in every way.

Its better that you found this out now then when you were married but you need to figure out if its worth being in a relationship where you feel this bad. I think your FH is being a little unreasonable especially when you admitted you knew you needed help. I think its great that you are going to see a therapist only good things will come out of it. If at anytime you need to talk just FM me. I really hope things work out for you - you seem like a really sweet that deserves nothing but true happiness!

I think one fo the first things that jumped out at me is that you tried forcing him to talk when he just didnt want to at the time... I think thats why everything escalated the way it did... Fh does this to me all the time so i know firsthand how much i get aggravated when im forced to pursue an issue

people can say and do alot of mean things when they are heated... we all do... it def does hurt when you are on the receiving end of it though.. as someone has said already, sometimes its that harshness that finally gets ones butt into action... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt... but in your case, i think the therapy is a wonderful idea .... i also think that working on your communication with FH is also key here... even if you have to do some self-help books together... they work if both partners are committed to the change!

Hun i hope you are okay.

Listen, Therapy is a wonderful thing. It took me years to admit it but let me tell you, talking to someone who doesnt know every aspect of your life is amazing. I think thats why so many of us turn to this site to vent. Its nice to hear unbiassed decisions and aswers to our problems.

Second, I would really just take it easy right now. I know what its like to lose someone you love. I lost my gramps and he was like my father, and I have not gotten over that either. It's hard at times to admit that you need help. But when losing someone you never know how your mind will react. some people begin to feel anger, resentment, frustration. Me, personally, i feel upset everytime we are renovating something in the basement, or talking about the wedding because HE isn't going to be there. But, that's okay. You are allowed to feel that way.

Your fh needs to understand also that in the future there will be much bigger fights over much bigger things. And turning on the television will not help in the problem.

Tell himt hat talking things out is healthy. Give eachother like a minute to get off your chest how you feel without any condesending words. See if that helps.

All I can say to you is you know where to find me!

it has been said before, and i really feel positive about the benefits of therapy...me and FH talk to my therapist every two weeks. i talk to her every week...it helps to have an objective person to talk about the probs going on in relationships

however i do know that whenever FH and I are in a fight and i try to 'talk' to him, it seriously escalates to where he tells me he is not sure if we should get married...its my own fault bc i like egg him on...

and you have FM

Re: please read sorry so long

im sooo sorry you are going through this during what should be a happy time. first of all you said he is putting this all on you if there are things that are upseting you about him that you would like him to change you need to talk to him about that to. I know you said this came out of knowwhere when he wassaying all those hurtful things to you....but maybe he had felt this way for a while. you said you were feeling down and miserable for a while, it seems to me that he kept this in and when you flipped on him that was it for him thats what pushed him over the edge to say what he said to you. As for the wedding thats not whats important right now, if you are unhappy and depressed all you need to worry about is fixing you right now. Get yourself better, happy, and back to the person you want to be. Then if things are better with you, and things get better with your relationship then you guys can talk wedding. I know how it feels to be depressed when nothing seems right so if you need to talk you can talk to me any time
hang in there we are here for you no matter what.

xoxo

Re: please read sorry so long

I'm sorry you have to go through this.

I would FM you this info, since its sooo personal but I don't know if you will be checking your FM and also maybe it will help some other girls as well.

My Grandma passed recently and like yours, she pretty much raised me. At that time she passed I was going through so many things. I'm not going to go in too deep but my Father has major issues that ruined my relationship with him. I cant really say everything that has happened over the course of 8 years with him but just know that I was crying every night... so much that I couldn't stop myself. My Grandfather was diagnosed with cancer....the list goes on and on. This all happened in a time span of 1 month. When I was trying to deal with one issue something else happened. I considered going to see someone about it, sometimes I want to and sometimes I don't. Obviously I was having issues. Main thing was my Grandma.... I needed to know she was OK, and that she was happy because we(her family) were her whole world and her leaving us especially right before I got engaged(because that's something she ALWAYS talked about) was soooo devastating.

Long story short...... this is what I did to help myself.

I contacted Josephine Ghiringhelli . She is a psychic medium. I know a lot of people so not believe in this but I really do and it helped me 10,000,000,000%!!!!!!!
I saw Josephine for the 1st time at a fund-raiser and right away I knew she was the real deal. One of my close friends had a private session with her shortly after that. My Mom and I made an appointment with Josephine in April. We went, Josephine lets you record your session. And let me say... that it was the most exquisite & profound thing I have ever done. The room 'felt' like my Grandmother. Josephine answered our questions before we even said them. As soon as we walked in she said, your Grandmother wants you to know she is happy, she is healthy and she is beautiful again. She didn't want to leave you but her time here was done, she was in so much pain and she wanted to go. I'm not going in to specifics because its too personal, if anyone has any questions you are more then welcome to FM me about it. Just know there is no way Josephine would know any of the soooooo specific things she said in our reading. She truly has a gift.

I left there better. It was weird, just as they take care of us in life, they take care of us in death.

I just went again last night to see Josephine. I went alone. And again she helped me sooooo much! I will forever be grateful for what she has done for me.
From issues with my Father, to my Grandfathers health to being able to talk to my Grandmother again.

I recommend that you go see Josephine, talk and deal with the pain of your Grandmothers passing. Your Grandmother will let you know what to do about your FH.

Like I said.... they take care of us in life and they take care of us in death. It is truly amazing.

Josephine is $250.00 for a private reading that is one hour.
$450.00 for 2 people, the reading is one hour.
She also does small groups (6-10) but I'm not sure how much that is. I do know its cheaper then the private reading though.

If anyone would like to know more, please FM me.

I hope reading this helps you.

wow. thats a lot to think about. So... good that you are going to talk to someone about all of this. But nothing is only your fault. A relationship takes two people. Maybe on your second session you could go meet with the Dr. together. Maybe they can mediate a conversation between the two of you and help it to progress. I hope everything works out! Im sure he does love you. You guys may just be in a slump and need to work through it together.

I agree with Lauren....we all have our moments, mood swings, etc....but if your significant other says he loves you he should be able to over see those 'episodes' Its obvious that you were looking for his comforting/support and he was pushing you away. I'm sending you lots of
