We couldnt afford to invite everyone with a guest. Unless you are in a serious relationship or married your invited alone. But all of the single people know eachother so they can all hang out together

What would you do if you had a single friend who isnt remotely close to dating anybody? Would you invite them solo or without a guest?
if this becomes a situation i'm in, i would mention to the guest (who would be a friend of mine - i'm not inviting just acquaintances), that i'm planning out my guest list and i want her to have a great time at my wedding. with that said, i'd ask if she'd want the option of having someone join her for the night.
though, now that i think more about it - i would probably just invite her with a guest and not even bother with the conversation. i guess i feel that being invited without a guest could possibly be upsetting, whereas giving her the option shouldn't be a problem.
and if it cuts into my budget - so be it. i'd spend less on flowers or on invitations or whatever i have to. i'd rather have a happy guest/friend than a hurt friend to sit around by herself ogling gorgeous floral centerpieces all night. :-P

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette
We have way too many people to invite EVERYONE with a plus one- we would have over 300 people. We decided that if they are in any type of relationship- they will be invited with a plus one. However, if they are single- we don't want them to just randomly pick a person to bring to our wedding We have a lot of people in relationships and many single friends that all know each other so I don't see any problems happening.

We will invite everyone with a plus one. I could not imagine in the 4 yes of dating fh being invited without him bc we were not engaged, married or living together.

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette
We are definitely on a budget (and we seem to be sticking within it, even with overspending on flowers and dress!), and we have spoken with our single friends about not giving them plus ones. They are all cool with it (they are all friends) and we are giving those with long term boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives etc a plus 1.
We have contained the list to 162 and are hoping for 110. A lot are out of town, so we think we should be ok?

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette
We only put +1 if they were married, engaged, or in a serious relationship.
Towards the end we told our other friends if they want to bring a date they can. Only one of our friends brought a date.

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette
I am not giving plus ones to our single family members because I feel they have the rest of the family. I am going to invite our friends with a plus one because they don't all know each other and I want them to be comfortable regardless of relationship status. No one under 16 is invited. So that cuts our cost too.

ah we are having the same trouble! we have 320 to invite on our list and as I'm going back I'm thinking, we have alot of single friends..and all of our friends will be there anyway, so we are thinking of just having them come alone to cut costs, a few of them already told us they wouldn't care if they came alone bc everyone is friends with everyone that are invited anyway! phew!

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette
We decided to invite every single person with a guest since most were on FH's side and trusting him to keep track of who was in a 'serious relationship' just wasn't happening!
My response cards are still trickling in, but it looks like most of single people we invited with guests are going solo anyway.

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette
I didnt give anyone a plus one. Everyone knows a few people a the wedding so they wont be lonely. I even told the GM they were coming solo. 1 has 2 girls on a casual thing so i said neither of them could come.
