POLL: Are you allowing kids at your wedding ?

Original post by sandybeaches115

Just wanted to know how most people feel. Our wedding is going to be on the formal side, however I don't really see a problem with having children there. My family doesn't really have many small children. My youngest cousins will be 11 yrs old. FH's family has only 3 small children. I feel most people won't want to bring their children and will enjoy a night out. However, I know there are some people travelling that may have no choice.

What are your thoughts?

FH is one of eight. So her has 24 neices and nephews ranging from a year to 28 years old. We want them all there. All other kids like my cousin's kids etz are not invited.

Normally I would say no kids but since all of FH's friends and fam are from out of town we can't tell them to leave the kids home.

I have 14 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 17-3yrs and FH has 2 nephews that will be there. Its alot of kids but they are my immediate family and I would not feel right about not having them there..

thats so good to hear! We have lots of cousins and FH has little nephews...i just don't think it would be right without them. I don't think i'm going to invite the children of couples outside of the family though.

Only our family members will be bringing their children. Everyone else has been great and say we can't wait to get a babysitter and party...no need to even mention adults only. lol

We werent going to have kids except my neice and nephew (Jr. BM and RB) but our Best Man has 2 children that we are going to invite. usually his mom watches the kids when they go out but they are being invited also So Its really not a big deal to invite them. They are good kids and I dont think they will do any disrupting of the reception.

The only 'kids' invited to the wedding (outside of JrBM, RB, and FG) are FH's niece and nephews- 4 altogether.

We're having kids at the wedding. Between my side and FH's, there will be maybe...10 or 15 of 'em? A handful will be under 3, and if the parents don't want to bring them, that's cool - but we are inviting them anyway.
When I was a kid, I went to a bunch of weddings and always had so much fun. I still remember them and what I wore and how the bride looked. And the kids in our families are awesome - I so want them there.

I think that kids don't belong at a wedding.
They run around where they shouldn't be, cry or talk during the ceremony, etc.
They also don't let the parents have a good time.
I've been and organized a few weddings with kids, and at those weddings, I'd actually had 'babysitters' who kept the kids occupied in a separate room, away from the wedding. They had their own little party, with food, activities, etc.
They enjoy this far more, I believe, and so do the parents.

Originally we were going to but now we are just having them at the church for pics and then the reception is 14 and older. It was going to be adults only but my FH is having his eldest nephew who is 14 be a groomsman.

there are a TON of kids on my side of the family so we are only having kids that are probably ages 10+ and are immediate family members

I already posted my answer (aside from my FG, RB, and JrBM there are 4 kids INVITED)...

But I just wanted to clarify that it doesn't mean that their parents will BRING them, but they are immediate family and are invited.

If the kid is turning 13 in the year 2010, then they are invited...
