POLL: Do you plan on selling your dress after you're married?

Original post by jjk1007

I definitely plan on selling my dress after the wedding. I personally dont see a point in keeping it because I will never wear it again. (Plus I know I will probably be needing the money at that point...lol) I know a lot of people feel very connected to their dress and would never even dream of selling it. So Im wondering what you all plan on doing.

i am horrible with these type of things and I keep things that I shouldn't even keep lol so i know i would have a hard time getting rid of it. I have drawers full of stuff and boxes.

But i do love the idea of making a christening dress for my child out of mine, ive heard of alot of people doing this.

since i love my dress so much im cutting it to a cocktail length dress and dying it to a color most likely black so i can wear it again... oh and the party that i cut off.. im making christening outfits for my babies.. i love that idea its very sentimental

I don't think I'll sell it, but I may donate it. I also may keep it to use for a christening gown. Two of my cousins did this with their gowns.

I will most definitely NOT sell it. One of my favorite memories as a little girl was playing dress up in my moms gown and veil. Even if my future daughter doesnt want to wear my gown I'd like for her to have that opportunity to put on my dress and pretend to be mommy!

Now If i have a son and he decides to want to wear my gown I'll have a whole new set of issues to deal with.

LOLOLOL but i agree with u..im saving mine for my future daughter if i have one..to either dress up in it or maybe use it/alter it for her wedding one day (though i doubt that would happen- maybe she can just take a peice of it and sew it into her dress- i dunno i just dont think i cant sell it haha)

i am getting mine preserved and represerving it every three years - i want my daughters to have the option of wearing it

i would have worn my mom's if it wasnt yellow. . .

i hope i am not setting myself up for heartbreak when my daughter tells me its ugly or something LOL

I wonder can you get a wedding dress dyed? See if i could do that then maybe I can color it black and wear it out a few more times. I rather do that and maybe use half of it for christening outfit dunno now

I would either hope to have it sewn into the material for a bassinet for my child, or possibly their baptismal outfit.

Ooooooor, I could donate it to charity where then I really know I have to good reason to let go, even if I emotionally dont want to, lol.

I completely see your point with selling it but Im the type of person that gets really connected to things like that. Even though I know I'll never use it again, I could not imagine giving it away.

Plus Im the type of person who would still try it on once every couple of years 'just for the hel l of it.'
