I am so impressed by kmcwed, I wish that everyone would give serious thought to having children. Too many people seem to just go ahead and do it, and not even question if it's right for them. One size does not fit all, and not everyone is meant to have the same life pattern.

As much as I looovveeee kids and want a half-dozen of my own, I know I'm gonna turn into that crochety old lady who chases kids off her lawn and squirts them with the hose because other people's kids really PISS ME OFF!!!!

Before I had kayla I wanted 4 kids, now with the one who is a terror, (but I love her) maybe 2 more, definatly 1 more, it is hard, kids are cute, but they aren't easy!!

Re: POLL: How many children do you want?
I agree with Chippa, how she can't stand the kids running wild and being undisciplined, and generally pains in the b-hind. But then she sees a cute baby sleeping peacefully with its happy mom. It makes you think...'Ooooh how adorable! Gee, well maybe it's not so bad afterall....' It's a tough choice.
But remember that baby sleeping peacefully (why do you think the mom is so happy?), is going to be awake in a few minutes and then it's constant supervision, correction, attention and time. Basically, the point is, you get both sides of the coin with EVERY child, the adorable sleeping Gerber Baby, AND the holy terror running amok. I think a lot of moms, especially young moms, are not well prepared for that.
If children were always peaceful Gerber babies, I'd definitely jump on the bandwagon and have a few of my own. It's the OTHER side of the coin that keeps me undecided. The other side of the coin is what takes hard work and total sacrifice.
So many parents don't consider that beforehand and then take out their frustration and resentment on each other.
JMHO.
