Poll: How much was your MOB dress?

My mom is starting to look and the prices seem a little exorbitant. Can you let me know what your mom paid so I can tell her at least what's average?

My mom lucked out at Estelles- she found something lovely for about $120. I think it was on sale.

My mom is having the same problem. She found a dress and it is 450. Just seems a little much. It is beautifl but we are now deciding if it's to much. One dress was 750. My dress was just about 1000. I couldn't see her spending that. You and I are having the same issue. My mom is killing me though

This isn't a fun process.

According to the poll, most MOB dresses are over $700??? There are some wedding gowns on here that didn't cost that much!!

My mom decided to have a custom gown made, so it is a lot...but we went to Smithhaven Macy's Bridal Salon first to try some stuff on and they had some really nice reasonably priced MOB dresses.

My mom got her gown from a bridal salon, and with alterations, shoes, bad, earrings, it came to $550

my mom scored an awesome deal at lord & taylor's... I think her dress was over $300 but with all the discounts came to about $100...and she did not need alterations...

Same here!! My dress is $720 incl tax. She's like 'I am NOT spending $350-500 on my dress when yours was $700'. Ahhhh. I guess it's department store searching. This is one of the more difficult ones. At least she's lucky in that she looks pretty good in everything so it's just a matter of finding reasonably priced ones.

Has anyone's mom used a BM dress? My mom tried this one from Lazaro on and it looked BEAUTIFUL. Then I stupidly mentioned that it's a BM dress and she said she wouldn't get it because it's not meant for an 'old lady'. She's so dumb about that stuff. Anyway, did anyone else's mom look at BM dresses?

My Mom tried on a Lazarro BM dress as well and she looked so good in it. It was a 2 piece. But she went with a MOB dress she found in Macy Manhasset. My Mom had open heart surgery over 14 years ago and she has a high scar on her chest that she doesnt like to display. She found a Jovani dress that is high in the front with a low back, and a tiered bottom and she looks so pretty in it ! But we went to over 12 stores looking for her. It was very hard to find a pretty dress that had a high front to cover her scar. I told her nobody cares about her scar and to show it to the world and be proud, but she is self-conscious about it.

Just because some of our mothers choose to spend more doesn't make them 'insane'. Everybody makes different decisions...

I was shocked when I saw the prices as well. I thought she could get a dress for like $200 but then we started looking and saw the prices. My Moms will be like $700 with alterations but she is ok with that. I am just happy that she is here to celebrate with me after all she has been though.

My mom and I got her dress this past Sunday. We went to Boutique Elle in Woodbury Commons. We too were surprised at the prices...they showed us gowns for $2500 plus!

The dress she ended up with (beautiful!) cost $750, and she is having sleeves added on so that brings it up even higher. We've sort of gone crazy w/ our dresses for the wedding, but we're thrilled with them.
