Did/Are you dance/dancing your first dance entirely with DH/FI or are you inviting others to dance as well mid-way?
All alone and I am so glad we did! We sang to each other (our song was by a local band and had a ton of meaning for us) and it was just so beautiful. BP hardly knew each other so we didn't want them to have to dance together.
When we were planning, I didn't want anyone to join us, but DH thought it would be a nice gesture. I figured I should let him have his way on this one. Well, two seconds after the other couples came on the floor, people actually pulled us apart to talk to us. We were both stunned. We worked our way back to eachother, but people kept pulling at us. As soon as it was over, DH grabbed me and told me I was totally right that we should have danced by ourselves for the whole song. I think it should be your moment to savor-- you'll have to be graciously greeting guests the rest of the night, so you should concentrate on eachother for those few precious moments. JMO.
Just us, I waited too long in my lifetime for this moment to share it with anyone else. Selfish? YES!

it is a special time and your first dance together should be done alone!!!

The first dance will just be us, followed by a second dance (good luck dance my dj calls it) with all the guests.

We are going to dance ourselves for our first dance.
Oour song was long, we wanted to invite others, but the band forgot to.
The last few weddings i went to all the couples danced alone. I like the idea. But fh i do not think he will go for it only because his friends are all single so they get to have there 5 min of in love time with a girl lolololol
We are dancing the first dance alone.
Since our wedding song was over 6 minutes long, after about 3 1/2 - 4 minutes we had everyone else come out.
We are going to dance by ourselves, and then have the good luck dance after where the DJ says 'Lets get all the couples on the dance floor , the more couples the more years of happy marriage for our bride and groom.'

Invited people midway. We actually didn't want people standing around staring at us for a whole song.
We danced about 3/4 of our song together and then had bridal party join in then we went into second song and invited ALL guest to join in.
We had both sets of parents, plus my sister and her hubby and his sister and her hubby join in because we had an uneven bridal party.
IMO it seems too long to dance the whole dance alone. I was just at a wedding where they did it this way and I have to say, all of the guests got bored. I know, I know.... it's your day and you should do whatever you want BUT unless your dance is choreographed and is something to look at, it seems like forever when you're standing there watching!
Not for nothing but I waited my ENTIRE life for my wedding day - and my first dance. I love all my guests, but the 1st dance to me is a VERY SENTIMENTAL moment I want to have with my husband alone.
