Just curious as to how we are all having the beautiful weddings we are planning.
I did a poll so that people who may not be comfortable answering a $$$ question, could still answer if they wanted to...
ETA
My parents are generously paying for the reception and my gown along with the extras that go along with the gown/day of, and paying for the DOC, $$ toward shower, and tips
Grooms parents are paying for band, photo, video, and i think flowers, RD, prob put $$ toward shower
we are paying for invites, honeymoon, limos, and any of the other 'extras'
I know we are very lucky that our parents are being so generous! I am very thankful, because we could not afford the wedding we are having without them! -and as far as being able to choose what we want we have been able to do that too...
(the reason for my post was something that happened at work with 2 friends/coworkers who are also getting married)

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
My parents are paying for hall and a few other expenses. My FI's parents gave us a VERY generous amt of money but we REFUSE to use a dime of it for the wedding- we need to get serious and know that the wedding can suck you dry if you let it. That money is being saved!!

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
Fh and I are paying for almost all of it ourselves. My mother has generously offered to pay for my dress, the brunch the day after and a shuttle bus to and from the hotel/reception. His parents haven't mentioned paying for anything and I don't expect them too. It's his second wedding.
ETA: I like it this way - that way we make ALL the decisions.

Michele, that's very smart! Use the money toward your new home with FH. I always felt that although it would be great to have a beautiful wedding, but it is ONE day! You still have the rest of your life to plan for!

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
My parents are paying for everything except for the rehearsal dinner which FIL's are paying for and the limo's which we are paying for. Hopefully, I'll have a job this september (Anyone know of speech pathology openings!) and I'll be able to contribute..

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
me and my fiance are paying for the wedding....so far we have 6700 saved up from the end of february. we opened an account 2 weeks after we got engaged..we are having an e party in 2 weeks, hopefully we will make some money from ther ( my mom is payin for the e party). my fiances paretns basically do not know how to handle their money so i dont think they will be contributing much, even tho his father makes a lottttttt more than mine.
my parents and his parents are both providing us with some $$. The balance of the wedding is coming out of our pockets. We have been saving and are trying to cut corners where possible...but fact is LI weddings are just plain ole expensive

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
We have two separate receptions at the same time since it's a huge wedding.
My parents are paying for the buffet style church reception for their friends and FMIL's friends (most of the guests). The photography and florist $ will be split between my parents and us. FMIL doesn't have the means to help us out.
We're paying for the RCH reception for our siblings, friends, coworkers, etc.
I paid for my dress and we'll be paying for the other things on our own.

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
My parent's gave us a dollar amount when we started planning and said do with it what you want, stay within the budget, or pick up the rest ourselves. So, we're paying for some vendors. FH parent's are taking care of the band. I'm so happy both sets of parents are being so generous.

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
Being that FI & I are having 2 weddings it's a little crazy....
Since the reason that i am having 2 weddings is because MY family is portuguese, my parents are paying for the wedding in Portugal which is cheaper than having a wedding here but due to the exchange rate right now...it may come out the same.
As for our wedding here, FI's parents are giving us a certain amount of $$ to do with what we want for our wedding here and the rest is coming from FI & I...

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
Fh and I are paying 100% of the wedding, plus I will probably have to pay for my younger siblings clothes and my mom's clothes.
we also are not expecting much of anything in the way of gifts.
we ARE expecting to be very poor (but debt free) after this is over. I refuse to charge ONE thing......I don't want a bill after 4/23/06!

Re: POLL: Paying for wedding
JesicaM, you just made me feel a lot better about postponing my wedding. We'll be poor, but hopefully debt free, wheras to ave the wedding in 2006, we'd have to borrow $10-20K between borrowing from family and loans
ETA: Loans..I ahve No idea why I wrote 'co workers' LOL

glad to make you feel better...I just can't see having to pay for this long after the guests have gone home....especially if it would mean that I don't have one (a home) in order to pay for this shindig!
