I had a crush on him in high school and was too shy to do anything about it...then years later, I got in a fight with one of my friends at a bar and went to take a walk...recognized one of his friends from high school and started talking to them about the 10 yr reunion..FH walks up with a bunch of beers (it was his turn to buy rounds) and introduced himself...the first words out of my drunken mouth were 'OMG! I HAD A HUGE CRUSH ON YOU IN HIGH SCHOOL!' oops! lolol

I am surprised about how many (myself included) met online and also through work... usually.. and feel free to disagree with me.. these have been taboo places to meet (you hear of the wackos on the net.. and fear of sexual harassment in the workplace).
I'm not surprised that most meet through friends and family.
No offense to anyone who met online... I always thought it was weird!!! But now spending so much time on LIW and meeting so many great girls I can see how it may be possible

Like OctGroom said, as long as you are careful and watch out for weirdos, you really can meet people as nice as WE are. Think about it -- EVERYONE you meet is a stranger at first, unless they are introduced to you by family or friends.
I truly feel as though my FH is like a gift from heaven .. I would've never met him had it not been for the internet! We both were so skeptical we'd only signed up for ONE MONTH --- and it was the BEST money we ever spent!!

We met at a family dinner one Christmas about 12 years ago. My FH was dating the cousin of my boyfriend at the time (who I later married). We were friends all thru that fiasco and after it was all over he tried to set me up with his brother. I said -- No thankyou .... I'd rather go out with you!
The rest is history.
Maybe I should try and sell this story to one of the soaps???

Since we also met online...but I only posted my profile...I didn't actually pay. FH said that he used to look through the ads to see all the wackos. One day he came across my picture/profile and he was compelled to write to me. He included his email address in his response...so there was no need to me to pay. I always tell him...it's the best $25 he ever spent!

Crass, indeed! With the amount of email you start receiving, you can weed people out just from emails alone! The anonymity of being 'online' gives some people a license to say things completely inappropriate (and I'm not shy, and/or easily offended - believe me - but there were some doozies!!)
Lucky for us OctGroowm, we didn't give up before we found our FH and FW!!

We meet at a club through mutual friends. It is so strange I started hanging out with two girls from high school that I hadn't seen in a long time, we went out and I met him. Then after two years those girls have once again left my life, but its okay I still have him

My FH and I met at the beach in Long Beach. His friend's wife noticed me and ran after me on the beach to give me his number. I told her I wouldn't call him, but I would come over. I did, he took my number and the rest, as they say, is history.
