Hello ladies!! I am a newbie - just been reading here for a few days and you all seem very wonderful! FH and I were engaged on New Year's Eve and we are now in the process of picking a date and a venue...I would really like to have a wedding in 2010 but I am not sure if its possible to have a wedding of 75-100 guests planned in 6 months? I have April 2011 now only because our 5 year anniversary is that month..
Is it possible to plan a wedding in such a short amount of time? Also, where should I start with searching for RHs? Bridal shows? calling and making appointments?

totally possible! especially if you book a venue that has an all-inclusive package!
my friend got engaged 12/24 and her wedding is 6/12

I agree it's possible but you need to get started NOW. Most places say you need to order your dress 6-8 months before the wedding, but I got my second dress (long story) a little over 5 months before the wedding. I'd go shopping like today if possible. You also need to start checking what reception halls have dates available to you, these book up really fast.
You really need to get an idea of what needs to be ordered now because some things really do need to be done early. I think it's going to be more stressful planning this way but if it's what you really want, I think it's doable. Good luck!

It's definitely possible. My Friend just did it. In fact she got an awesome deal with the RH and vendors. She went to the RH's and said I just want to be married by the end of the year and turns out, one had a cancellation on a Sat night in Oct, and since the hall wanted to fill the date, they gave her Sunday prices. Same thing happened with some of the vendors, they had cancellations or just open dates they needed filled so they were willing to bargain. The lady at the RH said that because of the economy, alot of couples didn't have the money anymore, so they cancelled. And halls and vendors in this economy would rather have someone booked for less $$ than noone booked at all. As for the planning, you just have to be realisitc and accept and ask for help from everyone. Good Luck!

Anything is possible!!! In fact, you might get some great deals since you're not so far out from your date!

Yes, it is but you might not get all of the vendors that you want.

Def. I went to a wedding that was planned in around that time. She had it at a big hall with a beautiful gown and everything. Just pick the month asap, start looking and hopefully have everything done within the month. Just be flexible with the date since some vendors may be booked already. And most gown shops can rush order your dress.

You can definitely do it and inf act you can probably save a bundle. At this point you're basically booking dates that would not toherwise be booked. I'd start as aPP said, by looking at sites and services. Decide on the number fo guests and what you can afford per person. You can also anrrow it down by location, # of weddings at a time, etc. if you know some of this, we can probably all make suggestions. Then start calling around to see what's left this year. I've heard the Lessings venues are offering great deals for the remaining 2010 dates.
Once you have a date set at a RH, I'd just send out a request on LIW. You put in your wedding date and which vendors you're still looking for and vendors who are available will contact you.

Hamlet Willow Creek and San Souci has amazing deals for wedding less than 6mths... you can do it !! and get great prices for dates that are open in 2010..

My friend planned her wedding of 250 guests in 6 months. It is possible but you have to be on top of things.

thanks everyone! I am 99% sure we are going w/. Swan Club for end of 2010.I already saw Sans Souci for a wedding I went to 3 years ago, unfortunately FH hated it and thought the house exterior looked shabby..
I have a few vendors in mind already and they are available for the 3 dates I have picked out...Just going to Swan Club this week to put down the deposit..

Its totally possible. I was in engaged in Feb 09 and we got married in Dec 09, but we didn't pick our RH hall until June. You can get it done.

I did it in 3. It was stressful, and I had to keep some things simple. But it was on a Saturday night in July in the Hamptons.
Pick which elements are really priorities, and start dress shopping asap.

I could plan a wedding in 2 weeks on my computer in a flash, liw has all the info and a ton of reviews all your research is already done at your fingertips 100% all vendors cant be booked over phone through email fax etc YOU ARE MORE THAN FINE!

yes but you will have limited choices as to your top dates and vendors.. but who knows you may get a good deal from the RH that is looking to fill dates!

as far as dresses, you can always think off the rack/samples. David's and Estelle's have them and I think RK bridal in manhattan too.
Invites. if you think you can print them yourself, the kits @ Michael's and ACMoore might give you more time because you don't have to build in wait time for the printer.

it deff is possible. You just have to be open to a lot of vendors, as good vendors get booked pretty fast :(
