Just wanted to add to my own post....
We finished pre cana last night and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. We had it Fri night and all day Saturday and ended with a mass in which we were presented to the community. It really gave us a lot of insight and it was great that it was run by couples. Oh I also got to meet Summer06Bride and her FI there
actually, i'm summerbride06---summer06bride is someone different!
i had a really good time as well...you gotta love dr. monica! i feel like we had awesome leaders who were honest and open. and i LOVED that it wasn't religious based at all...and no NFP talk!

They just talk about it. I just could not believe they were advocating to not use any type of birth control and do the calendar method to avoid pregnancy. It was just so old way of thinking so I thought it was useless.
Of course the church advocates NFP, the church teaches that there are moral and immoral ways to space and plan a family. NFP gets blasted because it is misunderstood as the old 'rhythm method' and because it requires sacrifice! I don't think anyone expects it to be easy, but I believe working together like that does truly strengthen a marriage.
NFP is very effective IF you follow the rules. Unfortunately, many couples get in the heat of the moment, break the rules, and then blame NFP (rather than their own weakness) for a surprise pregnancy.
I think its pretty sad that you refer to getting 'in the heat of the moment' as a weakness. JMO but I call that passion!.
I think it is pretty sad that you cannot correctly read something that is clearly written. I never said that being 'in the heat of the moment' is a weakness-please re-read the post. I said that if a couple is practicing NFP to space their family and they choose not to follow the 'plan' - that is a weakness in their behavior/self-control. It is not a weakness in NFP.

ERIN!! OMG!! I wish I had known that was you!!! We were talking about LIW and everything when we were sitting down!

You don't understand what natural family planning is, so I am not sure what you are not agreeing with. The weakness is not that a couple is attracted to each other and want to make love-the weakness is if they as a couple decide to make NFP their form of family planning and then make a conscious decision to have sex 'in the heat of the moment' even though they know the woman is fertile-hence she gets prego, they blame NFP as not working. Like I said-you don't get it.
