Well we only had it once so far. we are doing a small group, so it's w/ 2 other married couples and 3 other engaged couples. The first meeting was okay, we have HW already but i'll be honest I read the chapter (like a dork) and i found it a little interesting.
I don't think it will be that bad, i mean it could get a little annoying that we have to go on a Friday night for 2 hrs but its only 3 times.

Not great but not awful....2 sessions at the church (one for FOCCUS and one to go over results) 3 two hour sessions at a couples house, then a closing at a mass followed by a brunch - for some reason ours was the longest of anyone I have heard.
We have the same amount time in pre-cana like you.

it wasn't too bad...we chose to do it in 2 days which were very long.....about 5 hours each day......and then we had to go to a special mass at the church and then we were done.....2 days was better than the other option of 4 weeks at someone's house

I have mine this Saturday! I'm actually looking forward to it...I don't know if it's the fact that it's one less thing to do for the wedding or that I get to take a Saturday off from work! I'm actually happy to spend an entire day with FH and NO cell phones!

It actually wasn't bad. We met with the host couple and 5 other couples for 4 weeks. The host couple was great...they shared their experiences and weren't preachy at all. We didn't have to take one of those FOCUS tests. Overall I would say that it was a good experience. Good luck!

We honestly LOVED it. My FH is not RC and my church was fine with it. We really got the opportunity to talk about issues that were right in front of us. It was amazing to speak with already married couples and have them share their experiences.

We just had ours this past Saturday...we went for the one day 9-5. It actually wasnt as bad as we expected! We met some really great couples and enjoyed the day. It was a bit weird wiht the natural planning and such, and got a bit long, but after they took us to 5pm mass where they presented us to the parish and blesses our rings.

We are doing a small group precanna with 4 engaged couples and 2 married. We had 2 sessions already and one more left. It's a little boring, but it's fun b/c the other couples are all really nice

We are in it right now....we have been going nightly. I'ts not that bad....you can take it or leave it. It's fun meeting new peopel and talking with others that may be going through the same stuff as you 9Kinda like LIW

We just completed ours last sun and honestly I have to say I enjoyed it. We did the 4 wk. 2hr session at the couples home. We had about 6 couples. I felt very comfortable and even somewhat entertained. I even saw two people that I went to school with. Overall, I liked Precana and wouldnt listen to horror stories..everyones experience is different. Good Luck!

Just MY Opinion - my fiance and i like it a lot.. our group is really talkative and funny.. its run by 2 couples, both married over 25 yrs...
we go 2 hrs for 5 weeks.. i would recommend it rather thangoing over a weekend one - i feel like my fiance and i appreciate/love each other more and more by talking and sharing, we spend time together, and laugh a lot more...

Just wanted to add to my own post....
We finished pre cana last night and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. We had it Fri night and all day Saturday and ended with a mass in which we were presented to the community. It really gave us a lot of insight and it was great that it was run by couples. Oh I also got to meet Summer06Bride and her FI there

They just talk about it. I just could not believe they were advocating to not use any type of birth control and do the calendar method to avoid pregnancy. It was just so old way of thinking so I thought it was useless.
Of course the church advocates NFP, the church teaches that there are moral and immoral ways to space and plan a family. NFP gets blasted because it is misunderstood as the old 'rhythm method' and because it requires sacrifice! I don't think anyone expects it to be easy, but I believe working together like that does truly strengthen a marriage.
NFP is very effective IF you follow the rules. Unfortunately, many couples get in the heat of the moment, break the rules, and then blame NFP (rather than their own weakness) for a surprise pregnancy.
I think its pretty sad that you refer to getting 'in the heat of the moment' as a weakness. JMO but I call that passion!.

WOW I had no idea there were any other LIW Brides there too - I was at the same session this weeekend! I was going to bring it up during the 'women's talk' to see if there was anyone from LIW there but I didn't know if I should or not!

Good because it's over tonight!!!!! Bad because they talked a lot about things I did not agree with (FYI, I am not Catholic) I must say we did about certain issues that were brought up during the sessions, which I believe is the purpose of the program.
