You can always explain to the priest that you cannot afford to pay the fee and if they feel that you can't afford it then they will still marry you.
But be prepared to explain how you can afford your reception then.
I personally feel that after each mass my priests should ask for change at stoplights like those little league teams. Why should I be forced to pay for their meals. And do they really need heat in the rectory? I am sure their faith can keep them warm.
And maybe instead of paying for air conditioning for a summer wedding. . . the Church can just very nicely ask the electric company for some free electricity.
I dont know if you're kidding or not, I'm going to assume that's the italian sarcasm.. But either way, I love it!

OMG I cant believe you can get charged 300+ for just the pre cana! Its totally outrageous to me. I can only imagine what the price will be in a year or a year in a half when I go for pre- cana. I was telling my mom about it and she told me about when she got married (more than 20 yrs ago) and they werent even asked to pay, they were just told that the donation to the church was optional, why can't it still be like that.... we're forking over enough money as it is. 175-200 okay fine whatever but three hundred or even 800 come on thats soooooo wrong.

I think its all BS....seriously I am so glad we didnt have to pay for the pre cana....i wouldnt pay for it if we had to...it was crap.....we didnt even learn anything from it. Its such crap what they charge, they should NOT be charging for what you believe in. I am glad I am not getting married in the church but our priest is still charging us $300...
