PROBLEM!

PROBLEM!

FH and I went to meet with the Church/Priest tonight. I've known the Priest since I was 8 years old but now he is not in my parish.... so fine.
I was planning on getting married at his anyway.

So we met with him tonight and they only have a 10:30am time available for my date.
My Reception is not going to start until 8:00pm.

So he penciled us in... He said he would be willing to marry us at another church but he wasn't thrilled at the idea.

Does anyone know of any pretty Churches in the Roslyn area?

Or do you think I should keep it for 10:30am?
I really really think its too much of a time gap.

Yikes...i would look for a different church...that is a long a s s day for you..getting ready for a 10 30 ceremony and then having an 8 o clock reception is a huge gap..for guests and for you!

Yes! I was thinking about that. I'm just woried about going in and being like ...hi, i'm not from here and I need 8/1/09 and oh yea... my old priest needs to marry me here.

Ya know? I'm not sure how understanding any church will be.

I don;t know of any other churches int he are but I do think it's a really big time gap. Your photographer will probably want you ready 2 hours before the church to take pictures of you getting ready and you and your family at your house which means you would have to be ready by 8:30a.m. I think if he is willing to marry you at another church than u should def go for that. What about your parish, where is it located?

awww, I'm sorry to hear that! I was worried about the same thing, my reception doesn't start until 7:30pm and originally the church only had a 12:30 time for us, it ended up working out and the 5:30 time slot opened up... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

Agreed. This is a gorgeous church. My friend was just married there in August. I have pics of that wedding in my album. I think 10:30AM is much to early.

My church lets you use any priest you want (from any parish) so some are ok with it. My church is in Babylon...not anywhere close by but I am sure that if my church does it a lot of churches do because my church has a alot of rules.

i agree, i am always the first to say not to worry about a big gap but that is almost a 10 hour gap so that might be a bit much. Plus for a 10:30am ceremony, you'll have to be up pretty early sometimes at least 3 hours before. I started hair at 10am and ceremony was at 2:30pm. So that would be a very long day for a late reception.

The Priest said that they may have a 12:30 but not really. It was in the book but in pencil so maybe its just a hold...He said to not even think about it though. I'm so sad!

My parish is in Smithtown. I love it and it has been such a huge part of my life... I pretty much grew up there b/c that where I attended school. But ever since my Grandmothers funeral I just cant walk down that aisle. It makes me to sad.

she brought up a very good point with photographers, but what came to my mind is that you will have to pay extra for the photographer. Most of them do just 10-12 hour coverage and most do 10 actually. If you do 10:30 ceremony then they would leave at 10:30pm from your reception BUT if you want pics of you getting ready then they have to be there even earlier. SO just from the time you get ready(usually they come about 2 hours before) until about reception starts thats most of their coverage, then you have to pay extra per hour. Their coverage would end when your CH starts
