Proposal
Just watched last nights 20/20...This guy put an engagement ring into his gf's frosty from wendys. a friend challenged her to a frosty eating contest to hurry it up...Girl swallowed the ring!! She has an x-ray with the ring and had to poop it out days later!!!And on that note, how were all y'all proposals?
Mine was so funny! It was christmas eve and we always exchange then. He hands me a gift and its that HORRID ear wax vacuum from the infomercial. I was like ***!??? Then he went and got my real gift while I closed my eyes. I open them and he's on one knee. I FLIPPED out...went insane...was yelling at him 'is this a joke!?!?!? are you kidding!? WHAT are you doing!?!?!?
I'm not even sure I ever said YES! LOL
Cabin Fever is kicking in...Would love to hear your stories!

I walked into our apartment and the TV was on with a video montage of pictures of us along with our favorite love songs. There were rose petals, balloons, bouquet of my favorite flowers (daisies), champagne, champagne flutes, chocolate covered strawberries. I was in shock. I literally said 'what is going on?' I turn around and my now FH is on his knee! I immediately started crying and he said such beautiful words and asked me to marry him! Of course I said YES!! We later went out to celebrate at a lovely Italian restaurant. It was the happiest day of my life.

I knew the proposal was coming soon because we had gone ring shopping together but I didn't know when.We always do a Christmas dinner together a few days before Christmas and our go-to place is the Melting Pot. He asked me to make reservations for our 'Christmas dinner' and on the day of, he called me and told me that he was running a little late because he was stuck in traffic. I didn't think much of it. Turns out, he was at my parents' business to ask my parents for their permission. He picked me up and we headed over to the Melting Pot. We had the best table ever - there was a beautiful fire place in front of us and our table was secluded from everyone else's. All of the sudden, he told me that he may not be able to afford the ring I want because we're both saving up for a house. Then he pulled out a Ring Pop (yes, the candy) and asked me if the Ring Pop would be ok. I started laughing and looked down to open the Ring Pop and when I looked up, he was there with the ring that I had picked out and asked me to marry him! It was totally unexpected and SO perfect.
Edited to add - My response when he asked me to marry him was 'DID YOU ASK MY PARENTS?!'

My birthday (it was a thursday)was the day before and I was so upset because when I talked to him that morning he never said happy birthday. He comes over after work and gives me flowers and a card that says I'm getting a massage in AC(we were supposed to go in a month) I was pretty disappointed because he is usually more thoughtful when it comes to gifts and I knew he filled it out in his car right before he came in. Anyway I played like I was happy and went to work the next day kind of disappointed. I was thinking maybe it would be in Disney as we were leaving on Saturday (two days after my birthday) any way it was Friday about 3 pm and the door opens at my job and in walks my 2 year old niece with a little sign (she was supposed to hand it to me but she played shy in front of my whole office) the sign said soon to be his mrs. FH then walks in with a sign saying soon to be her mr. Needless to say I knew what was going on but I was in shock! And so were the women in my office. No one knew except my office manager who made sure I was there when he arrived. (And I needed a manicure!!!) I Said are you fuckkkk*ng with me?
anyway he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes of course! He planned an engagement dinner with our families and cousins at our favorite restaurant. My sister also drove in straight from soccer practice in CT (she's in college) to surprise me and be there for dinner. It was such an amazing day- and we left for Disney the next morning! (Now I forgive him for forgetting to say happy birthday because he said he was so nervous because he knew he was proposing the next day) lol

I knew it was coming because he had let me pick out my ring...he took me with him when he bought it so he could get it sized... and we were talking about getting married a for a few months.. but he kept psyching me out. I thought he was going to do it on Halloween. Then I thought he was going to do it Thanksgiving in front of his family. Then I thought he was going to do it on NYE because he said it would be before the end of the year. Needless to say... the man psyched me out so many times I had given up guessing when it would happen.Then... about a week before he proposed his brother came down to our part of the house and asked him was he was doing friday the 14th since he was 'gonna be busy stargazing on the 13th'. FH immediately looked at me but I pretended not to hear it. So... my antenna was up.
So... the Thursday the 13th came. And I had forgotten about the comment his brother made... until I had heard on the radio that there was going to be a meteor shower that weekend so I texted FH asking if we could go see it this weekend. He said sure. Then he asked if I wanted to get Applebees for dinner (its his favorite place... he likes the wings lol) so I was like sure. Like any regular night.
So we get dinner and its a normal night... except he was wearing a jacket. He NEVER wears a jacket. But he was taking my hands when we were outside and putting them in his pockets so in my head I was like.. 'oh. another fake out. great.' At dinner we were talking about the meteor shower and he said it was supposed to start tonight and he wanted to see it tonight. I was like 'Sure... whatever'.
He took me out to Montauk (which is where we ended up on our first date) and there was a meteor shower and we're on the ground watching the shooting stars and he’s just talking and he's like 'yeah... it'll be cool because the Geminid meteor shower is always around this time of year so when we get married on 12-13-14... theres going to be a meteor shower. and wouldn't it be cool to be able to say that theres a meteor shower on our wedding just like the night we got engaged??'??I just looked at him and i was like 'stop it. are you serious??' I even think a “shut up” came out.??And then he said “So....do you want this ring? Cause its too small for my fingers...'
He thought about it SO much.. because our first date was not only in montauk... it was also the 13th of the month... and a thursday. He had it all planned out perfectly and it was the best night ever.

We went ring shopping together, so I knew it was coming, but I didn't know when. So I used to be obsessed with my fair wedding and I saw an episode where David Tutera moved the wedding to Oheka Castle. Can you say jealous much? So for awhile I went on and on about Oheka. The day after Christmas (2011!) FH booked a night at Oheka. When we got there, FH took me for a drink at the bar. I wanted to settle in, but a drink is never really a bad idea! Turns out he was killing time to make sure the rose petals were on the bed and the champagne and strawberries were delievered!I walked in the room first and saw the rose petals. When I turned to ask him what the heck was going on he was down on one knee! He had this beautiful proposal planned out and my big mouth keeps saying 'omg are you kidding' and 'what are you doing?' the ENTIRE time. He got to the 'will you marry me?' and that was the time I went speechless!! I think I gave him a heart attack because I just left him kneeling there hahaha...of course I ended up saying yes, but I did ask him to repeat the proposal because I missed most of it lol

Proposal
I pretty much knew a proposal was happening... First of all at that point we had been dating 9 years... 9 long years!!! We both graduated college in 2010 and here we were in 2012 and I was honking by that time I would be married!!! Wrong!!!So beginning in about march I started really talking about weddings all the time because I was getting mad about not having a ring on my finger!!!!
So I started taking FH to different jewelry stores, trying on rings and such... I didn't want to be too pushy as his very best friend ended up getting a girl pregnant and proposing on a whim and saw how she was treating him (little does our good friend know-to this day, 4 months after their son was born that she did this on purpose!) so fh was kind of wary at that point and I didn't want to push it...
So I backed off a bit (sort of!! Lol) finally his best friend who got the girl pregnant got married at the court house (a few friends and they dressed nice-as best they could make it for the day) and got married none of us could go as it was a Thursday at 11am and we all work. But fh went... After seeing his friend miserable (he knew he was even though he tried not to show it) fh knew he wanted to marry me more than ever and wanted a very special wedding. That very day after their wedding fh and I went to a jewelry store to see rings (after 6 months almost of me trying on rings and changing my mind so many times) I found a perfect one and he knew it was perfect! We walked outside the store and he looked at me and told me to go back in and ask how much of a deposit they needed. So he went in and paid for the ring. That was June... So August and my birthday roll around and I have no ring yet even though I knew it was purchased!!! My birthday came and went! The Friday after my birthday was the first giants game of the year (preseason and I am a diehard fan) so he came to my house we were going to get dinner and watch the game. We went to port Jeff to get salsa salsa.. So we get down there and normally fh wants to eat immediately. He suggests we walk around (odd but we did) so finally 2 hours of walking around and sitting by the docks I was getting so mad.. I had no food in me and the game was starting in 20 minutes... I begged him to leave and he said 5 more min... I had this gut feeling (I always get feelings right before something happens) and immediately knew deep down that would be the moment. 10 minutes later in the very same place we went on our first date at age 15 right on the docks, he proposed on one knee... It was such a perfect moment and I couldn't have been happier!!! I was so excited and even though I felt like we were never getting engaged we did and it was so special and now FH is so excited for the wedding and cannot wait to get married!!!! Love him!

Proposal
We moved in together in January 2011, and he had said that it would happen by the end of the year. But things happened, and I knew I'd have to wait longer. I had showed him over and over the ring I wanted, explained exactly what I liked, and what I didn't like (I tend to be very particular about details). So this past April, his sister got engaged. It was a total shock to everyone, as even though she had been dating this guy for a few years now, she's 8 years older than us, and in the 9 years I've known him, has never once shown an interest in getting married. A few weeks later, his mom made a comment to us along the lines of 'Give me time to be happy for her, I don't know how much I could take.' Her mother passed away last year, and she hasn't exactly handled it in the best way, so I kind of understood, but was worried this would deter FH from doing it so as not to upset his mom.
Toward the end of June, he started talking about a dark dining restaurant that he said his best friend Matt's girlfriend was taking Matt to for his birthday. I had wanted to go to this place around Valentine's Day, and was upset that it took his best friend going to get him to want to go, too.
So he made reservations, and we went to this place. The basic idea of the restaurant is that you dine in complete darkness, and have no idea what you're eating. I had thought it might be the night he proposed, but as far as I knew, he hadn't asked my dad for permission, and during the whole meal, he was acting completely normal (which someone pointed out afterward, I had no idea how he was acting, because I couldn't see him!!). So the waiter started leading everyone out of the dining room after the meal, but left FH and me sitting there. I started panicking, thinking they forgot about us, and so he whispered something to the waiter.
The waiter led him to my side of the table, said 'Good luck man', and I can only assume, walked away. FH was on one knee, with a box with a tiny light in it, and asked me to marry him. I literally took about a minute and a half (probably less in reality) to answer because I was so shocked!! I finally said yes, and when we left the dining area, the other people who had been sitting at our table were waiting for us with champagne to congratulate us!! And he got me the exact ring I had asked for

Apparently, he went to my parents that morning to ask their permission, when I thought he'd been at the mechanic, and his friend never went to this restaurant for his birthday!
I think it took about a week and a half to really believe that we were engaged, after so long!!

I love everyones stories!!!Our story: christmas morning:
Right after waking up on Christmas morning, I asked if we should go into the living room to exchange gifts before we started the holiday.. FH said he'd rather give me my 'big' present right away and to stay in bed. When he left the room, our dog tango followed him out. Coming back into the bedroom, He said 'go on tango! Go to mommy!'
tango jumped on the bed and there was a white ribbon tied around him with something attached. (Going through My head? Oh my gosh.. That's not a ring! Is that a ring?! That is not a ring). When FH got to the bed, he kneeled down next to it, and simply asked, 'will you marry me?' (My answer was OF COURSE!). Stunned, I sat there for a couple seconds before FH said 'take the ring off of tango! He's trying to eat it!' So I quickly untied the ribbon and looked at the ring up close for the first time. It was perfect.. I had sent FH a few pictures over time of styles I liked for whenever it was that he'd be ready, and I guess he took the cue because he bought one that I sent him!! (It's a vintage Art Deco ring and it is beautiful!!) So then I asked him to to do the honor of putting the ring on my finger, and it was a perfect fit..
My favorite thing to say that day was 'we'll technically, I'm marrying the dog!'

Re: Proposal
Aww I love reading these stories!!! Keep 'em coming!!
FH and I, actually about a year ago from now, were in the process of booking our trip to Cali. When we called to book the hotel, they asked us if we wanted to hold the room with our credit card or if we wanted to use our Hyatt Reward Points. We had NO idea what they were talking about, but after they explained that we had earned points for each Hyatt stay we've had, and had enough points to cover our whole stay, we decided that if they could be used anywhere, we had to make it somewhere we could never afford. We were watching Cougar Town and they were in Hawaii, which has always been a dream vacation for both of us, and that's really how we decided!

When we first booked, I immediately thought I was getting engaged. As the months got closer, he started acting really stressed out and upset and finally came to talk to me about how he was getting a lot of unwanted comments from his family and some of my family about proposing, and how he was only two years in on this new job and didn't have the money to get me the ring he wanted, but he ddin't want me going there with expectations and being let down. Usually I can tell when he's full of sh**, but he was, or seemed genuinely upset and I felt AWFUL. Little did I know he had already purchased the ring, and from that point forward I never even thought about it.
On the second night we were there - in Maui, we had made reservations to eat dinner on the water. The waitor asked us if we wanted him to take our picture with the water in the background before the sun went down. We said yes and after the first one FH said he didn't think he smiled so he asked for another. I lifted my arm to go around him for the picture and when I realized there was nothing to grab on to, I turned and saw him on his knee. I blacked out and don't remember anything that was said because I was hysterical crying, but it was SO awesome that he thought to set up for a picture and was able to surprise me!
Sorry that is SO long! haha

FH and I went to a wedding for one of his coworkers in July and the entire wedding everyone kept saying to us that we were next and I was laughing and telling them to keep pestering him about it (we had been living together two years at that point). FH kept laughing it off and telling everyone to slow down but we all kept going and I said 'Hey, we're going to Disney World in October - you should totally do it then!' Everyone agreed and it was the running joke the whole night. As the Disney trip was approaching I could tell something was up. When you're in a relationship with someone you can always tell when they're acting differently, especially when you live together! He was just being weird all the time and he had a LOT of slip-ups like once I came home from work and went on the computer and there were literally EIGHT websites up with different engagement rings.
I just pretended not to notice it but then the slip-ups became even more obvious, like BLATANTLY obvious. He accidentally texted me something me meant to text his best friend about picking out a setting he loved and how he was going back to the jewelers the next day to pick out the diamond. Can you say men are idiots?
He already knew what kind of ring I wanted but tried to play the whole 'I can't afford it right now, but definitely shortly into the new year!' thing (why do men think that this works?) but I had a VERY strong feeling he was going to do it in Disney World.
Our second day there we got up really early and he suggested we go watch the sunrise over Epcot since we had been upgraded for free to a deluxe resort due to overcrowding. I was freezing, complaining, and wanted to make the first shuttle to animal kingdom, but he insisted we stay for the entire sunrise. Turns out he was trying to stall because there were so many people walking by and he was really nervous haha. He got down on one knee and told me I was the love of his life, I don't remember anything else he said because once I saw the ring I screamed and ripped it out of the box and put it on my own finger! He said 'is that a yes?' and I said 'OF COURSE!'
I'm so glad that me and his friends put the Disney World idea in his head
