Proposal

My FH gave me a promise ring on our 1 year anniversary and we always talked about getting married. I was so happy and told him I loved my promise ring and it looked like an engagement ring and everyone agreed and that I didn't need another one but he insisted on getting me another. I didn't have any say in either ring on what I liked which I loved I wanted to see what he would come up with.

After waiting 8 months and getting impatient and wanting to be engaged it finally happened on 12/23. I was cleaning all day getting ready for the holidays and he wanted to come over and I told him I would see but I was busy and didn't have time to hang out. But he was adamant about coming over so I finally agreed. So my sister stopped by to pick up some of the gifts going to her house and 5 mins after she left she calls and I kept missing the call so I finally picked up and she asked to speak to my father little did I know she was calling to tell him that FH's sister just called and say its happening in 20 minutes.

So me and my dad finish cleaning and I'm getting ready to take a shower a freshen up but my dad beat me and I had to wait. So after he is done he asks me for my camera and how to work it so I ask why and he said I want to take a picture of the tree and stuff so I show him and I tell him ok I'm going to freshen up before he gets here oblivious still. So as I go upstairs I hear a knock on the front door and knew it was FH and I was like ok he will hang with my parents until I'm done.

All of a sudden my dad calls me down to open the door cause he was exhausted from the days work and he couldn't get up. I open the door and there is FH on his knee with a huge bouquet of flowers that weighed a ton and a precious moments figurine of a little boy on his knee with a ring box that says please say yes and my ring was in it. I looked at him and I guess from being in shock I walked away from him until he said Colleen, come back here and in a little shy/kid voice I said ok and turned around and went back and was nervous the whole time. Needless to say I was so unprepared, sweaty and needed another shower which I never got to take until he went home.

I love that he made sure my parents were there and he said that was one of the things he wanted to make sure of and all the funny little things leading up to it and during and after just made it perfect on our own way.

Re: Proposal

I pretty much knew the proposal was coming as we had gone ring shopping together, and we were also planning a vacation together for our anniversary.

We planned our vacation for October out in the southwest. FH knows that I love the national parks and scenery out there, so we planned on renting a car for the first half of the vacation and roadtripping from Vegas out to Monument Valley in Utah to do some hiking and such. The second half of the trip was planned for Vegas.
We drive out to Monument Valley where we stayed at The View Hotel, where every room has a balcony with a beautiful view of the valley. We star gazed at night and I thought he would ask then.. but it was pitch black, we could see all the stars but not even each other! He told me to plan on getting up early enough so we could watch the sunrise. So we did just that, and he was acting sooo nervous the whole morning. I knew something was up. We're out on the balcony, and he's being all jittery and getting up, sitting down, etc. So finally, the sun comes up and its beautiful.. he gets down on one knee and tells me how much he loves me, pulls out the ring and proposes! And basically I said 'Baaaaaaaaabeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Of course! Yes!'
So pretty much the best vacation ever! We head out back to Vegas and got a free upgrade on our room since we were newly engaged and partied the rest of the week away! Greatest week ever!
